Is that Stupidity has no limitations... as evidenced by this deluded BIN dreamer (I mean "seller").  Geez..  $500??  That dude needs to lay off the pharmacuticals for awhile.

Some people think that the higher the "buy now" option the higher bidders will go bidding thinking it must be worth a lot ... does that sound like an acceptable reason ?
I´ve seen a Web-it computer being offered at 200 Euro "buy now" from a belgian seller thinking it was an extremely rare and retro machine while those same machines were still sold at Computer City in the Netherlands for 35 Euro I think

a1000s in worse condition have gone for quite a bit. that one seems to be in excellent condition.
a $500 buy it now could also indicate that they want the option but they dont want to limit it at all. if someone snapps up an auction with buy it now you wonder if a straight out action could have done even better. maybe they want real bidding and dont really intend for anyone to use the buy it now.

keep in mind it is an auction site, if you want just fixed prices go to amigakit, or software hut or something like that. considering someone stupid simply because they put a high buy it now price is kindof rude. if you want the computer put whatever bid you are willing to pay and hope for the best. with a $99 starting bid you could win it.
Oh yeah?!?
Well your stupid bit is set,
and its read only!

I can understand that you find sellers BIN price too high. I don't get what's it got to do with being genius or stupid though. Would he be a genius is he set a BIN of 100$ ?

Its stupid because:
1)Its a waste of everyone's time.
2)Ebay charges for every listing, whether the item sells or not (at least I think thats how it works...).  At any rate, to spend time creating an auction which has ZERO chance of success - and yet pay money to do it - does, to me, seem a bit....... stupid.

Why ? You're totally free not to care about it.

I disagree. I've seen more crazy deals at ebay. I'ld say there's a chance he can sell that setup at that price, though rather low. I'ld say he's taking a risk. (risking paying the listing fee and no return for increased profit). A risk I'ld not take, but not stupid.

Looks like it's in great shape. At 99$, it's not that expensive.

Even if the price was absurd, as a specialist you would better inform the seller rather than insult him.

Anyway this price has nothing absurd, as the most beautiful model of the best computer in history is now priceless.

I don't think you can call something "priceless" if they're fairly common and easily obtained for less money than that. I got my original Amiga in original box with all manuals etc for... I forget the specific price, but under $40. This guy's initial auction bid is $99, and his BIN is $500. Unless the engraved signatures on the lid of all Amiga 1000s has been replaced in this one by all the Amiga developer signing it in their own blood... those prices are nuts.

if you can find an a1000 with monitor and everything that goes with what that guy has for less than 100 you are doing really well. i have tried. the 1000 was my first amiga and i would love to have one in that condition.
i think the guy is pretty smart he knows he has a very decent machine and has set up a very reasonable. if it was minus the monitor and starting bid just a little less for no monitor i would bid on it.
