Amiga OS3.9 - UAE .. Sooo slow...
« on: July 22, 2007, 11:47:05 AM »
What is wrong... I finally managed to install OS3.9 under
E-UAE on my OSX Tiger Mac, but still have some issues.

Ok... It's been 2 month or so...

It's soooo slow.

When I open the Main drawer "System" ... The Icons take almost
20 sec's to load or more...

The wallpaper takes about a minute to appear...

ClickToFront in my Startup, always says, program has not yet
been returned, but it works ?! ....

Some tips please ?

That's the lack of JIT you're experiencing.

Also make sure you have "cpu_speed = max", and turning off any emulation of sound, AGA etc also helps.

Use Virtual PC or BootCamp then use Windows + WinUAE., and then you'll get a decent speed. Sorry  :-(

The Mac where I have made the new install is only a 1 Ghz G4

And I have Virtual PC with Windows XP but it's slow. And when I try to run Win-UAE there I have no mouse control... ?!

Well, E-UAE is quite slow on OSX/PPC...

I'm using a MacBook with OSX/Intel, and E-UAE runs GREAT on this machine.

However, i might be able to send you my config file? Did you also try HiToro? It's a frontend for E-UAE with a nice GUI to change settings to E-UAE. :-)

Would be nice to have your Config.

I'll try install on my MacBook instead. That's a 2.16 GHZ Dual Core...

That's because it doesn't need to emulate the CPU and complex custom chips. Basically it patches the MacOS enough to make it run alongside AmigaOS.

ShapeShifter is more like VMWare than UAE.
