IIRC, there was some talk here about Palm cradles that could be used for connecting for eg. A500 to Ethernet by serial port, is this it?
how do you modify them to work with Amiga?

obviously, but still better than nothing.. or than dialup
it could be used for email, clock sync, maybe some online games
maybe '060 could do 115200 if that cradle can handle it

Yes, I think that is the one!
I modified one, but never got around to test it. BTW, check the link below:

Here they modified the cradle for use with C128. The same cable pinout will work for Amiga.

It's sad that the C128 web browser looks better than AWeb.

Well, the connection could be improved if you install a clockport adapter and a Silversurfer. At least the connection speed won't be too bad.

OK, and then you're still stuck with the processor/mem which isn't really good for browsing

Since there's no way to use a TCP/IP stack through a serial connection (at least not this way), there's no point. You could use an adapter like this to talk to BBS software running on the Amiga through ethernet, but you can't actually open outbound connections.

It's similarly slow and much more feasable to run a serial cable to another networked computer and set up the latter to share the connection (PPP server). On the Amiga you'd set up a PPP connection (like w/ a modem, just without dialing) and off you go.

You not heard os SLIP then, it is quite possible to set all the miggy stacks to do TCP/IP over a seral connection

Although the Palm cradle will accept a serial connection upto 115Kbps it doesn't seem to actually work faster than 19.2Kbps. So it is slow indeed. I had mine working with my A2000 and on an old Mac recently.

yeah you can use SLIP or PPP to connect to a PC instead, there was just a thread about this last month
