FS: parting out a ton of A1200 stuff...
« on: July 19, 2007, 10:02:23 AM »
I'm never going to get around to putting this thing back together.  Facts is facts, so I might as well sell it, right?  Anyhow, here goes.  I'm parting out my beloved A1200, and since it's 4:00am, and I don't feel like dealing with ebay right now, I figured I'd give first crack to my amiga.org friends.  PM or e-mail (Oldsmobile_Mike@excite.com) me if you're interested in any of the following items.  Ideally, I'd like as much stuff as possible to go to a few individuals, that way I don't have to deal with shipping it all over the country, either.  All of these items worked the last time I used them (sometime around 2003 or early 2004), but of course, are being sold "as-is".  List as follows:

Pictures of everything on my flickr.com account, here:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/oldsmobile_mike/sets/72157600896220331/show/

**SOLD**  Amiga 1200, motherboard, case & keyboard.  This is a PAL 1D4 motherboard with 3.1 roms (installed sometime around 2003), keyboard is not original to this unit, but is one bought from Software Hut (?) in the late 90's as a replacement to the original.  Unit has some rust on it's "tin" parts, including the RF shield piece on the mobo, and a larger amount on the bottom "tin" piece.  Not a problem if you plan on installing it in a tower case, as I once was planning to do.  Case has a few drill holes in it, mainly one on the back where I installed my 15-pin VGA video output.

**SOLD**  A1200 power supply.  Stock.  Note the custom "Danger High Voltage" sticker.  I thought this was a pretty amusing joke.  ;-)

**SOLD**  Video de-interlacer:  Probably the coolest thing I ever bought for my Miggy.  Simply pop it onto the top of the Alice and Lisa chips, mount the DB-15 connector, and voila - a 31khz deinterlaced video signal that works in all AGA modes can be yours.  I used this to great effect with a 19" flatscreen Viewsonic monitor back in the day, it even worked for the early startup menu, and required no special software or drivers.  About the only issue I ever had is in a desktop case the circuit board can get fairly warm.  Not a problem in a tower system or an A4000, obviously.

**SOLD**  Elbox 4xEIDE buffered interface.  This neat little unit is designed to fit in an A1200 desktop case, plugs right into the motherboard IDE header, and adds two buffered 40-pin IDE connectors, as well as a 44-pin pass-through connector.  I believe each port can handle two devices (master and slave) for a total of 5 (or 6?) IDE devices.  I used this to add a couple of 3.5" hard drives, as well as a Sony optical drive, to my 1200.  Some of the pins are slightly bent now, but none are anywhere near broken, or anything like that.

**SOLD**  M-Tec T1230LC accelerator.  The worst A1200 accelerator, bar none, except for the ones that only add a co-processor and some ram.  Just kidding.  ;-)  This unit has a 33MHz 68030, a 33MHz 68882, and 4 megabytes of memory soldered to the board.  It wouldn't be bad if the memory were upgradable, but with no SIMM slots, I got kind of frustrated at not being able to add more memory.  Also it had a battery soldered to the board when I bought it, as well, but I took this off and stuck a little battery on there with a couple pieces of wire and some electrical tape, instead.  A better solution would be a battery holder, one from any old PC would do, and could probably be soldered right on.  I never had the time.  =(

**SOLD**  Some kind of effed-up power connector.  Looks like I hacked the 4-pin A1200 mobo cable with a standard molex connector on the other end.  I'll throw this in with the motherboard.

Oh my God, what is this?  A modem.  Zoom, V.34.  What's that, 28.8k?  I remember when I bought this in like, 1995.  I thought it was just the most amazingly fast thing in the world.  A huge upgrade from whatever the heck it was I was using before...  2400?  14.4?  I don't even remember.  What to say about it?  It has a 25-pin serial port so doesn't need an adaptor to hook up to an Amiga.  It has an on/off switch.  Amazing!  =D

Two floppy drives, an Amiga 1010, and a SupraDrive.  Both have pass-throughs, and the Supra has an on/off switch.  If I remember correctly, the SupraDrive was also "silent", meaning that it didn't click annoyingly all the time.  Oh, and what's this?  Inside the 1010 is the EIDE'99 disk that goes along with the Elbox interface, above.  I'll include that disk with the interface, since I think it needs those drivers and CDFS to support all the ports correctly.

**SOLD**  A copy of MorphOS 1.4 and the "SuperBundle" package.  BBRV himself gave me these, once, for designing a flyer used for a Washington DC-area Pegasos show.  Fun show, fun computers, too bad it never went anywhere.  Anybody want to take these items off my hands?

**SOLD**  Oh hey, here's a Chinon FZ-354 floppy drive.  I think that's the one that goes along with the A1200, so I'll put it over there with that stuff.  I took it out forever ago to replace with a hard drive, obviously.  ;-)

**SOLD**  A couple of really dusty joysticks.  One is a Suncom Tac30 with an "autofire" switch, the other is a no-name thingy.  Actually, since all of this stuff has been stored in sealed plastic totes, how *did* it get so dusty??

**SOLD**  Wow, here's more stuff for the A1200, the plastic cover for the door on the bottom, and the little tray that holds a 2.5" hard drive.  Guess I'll put those with the 1200, as well.

**SOLD**  Two A1200 KS 3.0 roms.  Not much to say about these.  Anybody need them?  There's also a Commodore 315093-02 in the bag, not sure what that is.  KS 1.3 from my long-gone A500, maybe?

**SOLD**  An A520 video adaptor.  Yeah, not much to say about this one, either.  It is what it is.

A Linksys EC2T PCMCIA Ethernet card, with dongle.  This card was what I used after moving up from the modem.  As I recall, it worked with the A1200 using some free drivers downloaded off of Aminet, and either Miami or Genesis, to connect to my router.

Hey, what's this?  Another A1200 expansion card.  This one is an RCA120 (Microbotics, maybe?), with a 68881, a space for a battery (obviously I removed it before putting it in storage), and, I'm almost certain that SIMM on the back is 8 megabytes.  It also has a switch to disable something-or-other, and is proudly "Made in Taiwan".  Yay!  =D

**SOLD**  An A1020 external 5.25" floppy drive that's been "modified" to hold a Sony CD drive and cooling fan, instead.  Yes, I know, I know, I destroyed this "priceless piece of Amiga history" because I needed something to hold an optical drive, but at least I saved all the guts of the 5.25" drive, too!  Like most of my Amiga items, this one appears to be missing nearly every screw that once held it together, as well.  Went to the great screw fairy in the sky, perhaps?  ;-)

Also have a misc. stack of cables and boxes, may be software in there, maybe not.  I'll just give these away to whoever wants them.  One of the cables is kind of unique - it's a 44-44-40 pin cable, about two or three feet long maybe, if I uncoiled the whole thing.  I think once upon a time I was using this to run two internal hard drives in the 1200, one a 2.5", and one a 3.5".  Maybe useful to someone?

And that's it!  Of course, I'm just sentimental enough to still hold on to my boxes and boxes full of 3.5" disks, like I'm ever going to use them or something, but you never know.  Maybe ten more years from now, I'll finally get rid of those, as well.  That, or maybe I'll have an Amiga again, and can run them!  One can only hope.  =)  Now let the PM's begin, and help me get rid of all this stuff!!  No reasonable offers will be refused, blah blah blah, have a nice night!  =)

I went and met up with Mike today (he's local to me) and bought a few of his items. I'm pretty happy, so this seller gets my approval!

Everything from the above list has been sold except the following: the 1010 and Supra floppy drives, the 44-44-40 hard drive cable, the PCMCIA network card, the modem, and the A1200 881/ram/clock card.  I'd still like to sell all these items, hopefully to one person, and definitely to someone in the US (I had a horrible time trying to figure out how to send a couple of these items to Mexico, and ultimately gave up on the confusing process of customs forms, and whatnot).  Say $40 + shipping for everything?  e-mail or PM me, thanks.   :-)
