32bit on A1200 possible?

I want my A1200 to be able to display 32bit colour without turning it into a tower it it possible? Is it possible to to it without a Bvision kit?

AGA can already do 24bit colour, but I suppose you're talking about 24bit truecolour.

The only solution I can think of is BPPC + BVisionPPC + tons of fans + cooling vents.

If you go the BVision road about 250(verry lucky) - 500 EUR. If you go the tower road and stick to zorro instead of PCI you might get away with less then 150 EUR. Though you should add at least a small turboboard to the setup. Just shoveling data though the dead slow chip RAM to the GFX-ram isn`t fun.

 But you'll have not only a RTG graphics system (Voodoo! It is faster than any card maded for the Amiga), but in addition you COULD HAVE:

- Ethernet (even fast ethernet);
- USB (no!that you cannot!);
- An audio board like a soundblaster;
- TV turners;
- External "pc" keyboard (not included in the package, but you'll NEED IT, if that is your choice).

Mediator has really slow bus though, slower than CVPPC/BVPPC. Roughly speaking: If the graphics is in the VMEM already or you're doing 3D, then voodoo is faster. If the speed is measured by moving pixels with CPU to VMEM, then CVPPC/BVPPC wins.

Yeah, but it's a newer RTG system (I know there not THAT new) ;-)

Funnily AmigaOS itself stores colours in 96bit (32bit per gun). Talk about overkill... :-)

Without getting into your debate about how 1 system compares with another, having only recently towered my A1200 with mediator etc (see sig), I can honestly say this is close to being a perfect Amiga. I can even switch it off using a mouse!

Having said that, it costs a lot to create it compared to a PC and you have to decide whether you want an Amiga or PC to do what you want.

But in general, any graphics card equipped miggy is far, far better than a stock one.
