Ben Yoris' interesting comments on another website.
« on: June 25, 2003, 01:28:58 PM »
I found this interesting.

Quote
Yes I wrote that 'as my personal opinion' on a french forum. Chatting with friends.

Is it a crime ? It looks as if it was for you.
And sorry but I didn't sign any NDA concerning AOS4. And even ?

But I was fired and throwned away like useless crap.
Ho for sure I wasn't a coder and not very useful to Hyperion.

I just helped finding 10.000 Euros when finances were low in 2000. I gave a hand on beta testing Shogo, H2 and a bit of Freespace. For free of course, and I'm happy that it was for free.
I introduced to you maybe one of your best help/beta tester : Sg2. Happily did in fact.

And I commited the ultimate crime against Hyperion : expressing my personal opinion about the release date of OS 4, which in the end, and very unintentionnally on my part, will be the truth.

Tell me, what do you have really against me to have thrown me away like this ?
What did I do ?

Bye,
Ben Yoris

If you are going to quote this then you should quote his later posts from the thread as well.

The site in question is AmigaWorld (.net) if you want to read it all properly............

Sigh......

Ben Yoris' interesting comments on another website.

It's one thing if you don't want to promote Amigaworld.net, but it's completely unfair to quote the most spectacular part of a whole thread without giving others the chance to read the rest of the discussion. Here's a Link to the whole thread.

After all, people might be interested that a person who claims to have been "fired and thrown away like useless crap" also states that he never was an Hyperion employee.

And I'm surprised to see that you're going down that route - wouldn't that rather be Kronos' Job?

MikeB's report of the OS4-tour (top news-item)

Hillarious read .....
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

I'm sorry but I find it in very poor taste to rip out a quote from a long thread in order to stirr up problems.

I could expect this from certain individuals that shall remain nameless but from an Amiga.org moderator?

Especially because the comment is subsequently negated to a large extent by the following discussion which has now been closed off.

All in all: poor taste.

Whoa whoa whoa back the turnip wagon up! I was not trying to stir anyting up. Next time i will post a direct link to Amigaworld.net's site. As for trying to troll against Hyperion? Not quite, try again. I must have read it wrong because i got the impression that the "Thrown away" comment was meant toward AW.net posters and not Hyperion.

-Edit- Besides it hasn't been removed under AW.net's strict no trolling policy, so I wonder why me mentioning it is so terrible :-?

JoannaK: got, little, tact

If all your good for is a badly worded stab at company officials every now and then, i guess your life must be fullfilling...

I have a question for people here. Its quite right to be able to voice your opinions to companies when you have an interest in them, but why is it that amiga users seem to think they have the authority to act sarcastically towards them. Why is it you think you have the right to insult or be-little them? Im sure having the tables turned you might see it in a different light. Your just little people and not at all important in the overall scheme of things, it may be a hobby to you but these are people that take it far more seriously, they try harder then you, and believe me you would not be able to achieve anything like they are capable of.

@red
Having not read the thread before your message, it did indeed seem like a stab at hyperion, perhaps a link to the thread would have been appropriate, or at least a more detailed intro.
-edit- it probably hasnt been removed yet because its only when you take it out of context that it becomes a troll post...
-edit2- amiga gaming forum! what the! oh wait, of course, it mentions a game title or two so that clears it all up then.

I dont see how it can be a stab at AW.net readers,
unless you can show how AW.net readers "fired" Ben Yoris and "threw him away like a piece of crap".

IMHO its a stab at Hyperion by Ben Yoris on incredibly shakey ground which he was forced later to retract.

Thats my opinion unless Ben Y can bring himself to answer my question about this very issue on that thread.

Hate figure.

@DaveP

There was alot of anger toward Ben Yoris for his personal opinion on OS4's release date and he took alot of sh*t for his opinion, just as certain people gave Wayne alot of sh*t for his personal opinion.

Wayne's personal opinion he stated a few months ago have now been filed in the archives of fact, and Ben yoris' is approaching fact, yet certain posters have yet to apologise to either individual. Ben Yoris would have been a crowd favorite to these individuals before his comment, and he is public enemy #1 to them after his comment. This could be seen as "Thrown out" :-x

Good to see that they can create flames themselves, and it wasn't because of my presence (and of many others who just like me deleted their account on amigaworld.net for some reasons).

Shakes head...
