Is this normal (icon behaviour)?
« on: July 06, 2007, 06:10:30 PM »
I'm nor sure if it is just me, but today after installing and testing few miscellaneous patches I started to wonder if this is the normal behaviour with workbench and icons.

When I double click for example my Ram Disk icon on workbench, Ram Disk window opens, but the icon stays on the pressed state (ie. glow stays) until I click either plain workbench or window background. Clicking title bar doesn't change the state of the icon and if I press another icon, the "problem" just changes to that one.

What could be the cause for this?

I think I played around with MCP and after that this begun (or it has been there always, not sure anymore... ;-) ). I have removed MCP and utils it came with from S-S, but that didn't restore things.

That's completely normal. A drawer or volume icon stays selected while the window is open. When you close the window or select another icon or click into an empty place in the Workbench window, it returns to normal. The title bar does not belong to the Workbench window.

Bye,
Thomas

Ok, thanks - btw., same happens with application icons too, but this normal too I presume.

I was so close to think that I was losing my mind, because more I stared to those icons, more weird (and alien to me) it started to feel . Maybe it is just because of other OSs and AmiDock. Btw., is it possible somehow to make the icons behave otherwise?

Yes totally normal whether it's a volume, a drawer, a project or a tool icon. I suppose changing the behaviour would involve patching icon.library, but I don't know whether such a patch exists.
