S-Video installed into my A1200

Here's my new s-video board (from neobitz)



The port is installed in the back, in the cover for the expansion port (where the SCSI normally is installed).

It looks excellent both inside and out. No cuts, scratches, or wandering wires.  The wires are from a hard drive cable which I split into pairs of 5.  The inputs are soldered to the RGB port to the pads where the surface mount capacitors are soldered.  Tight soldering but it only took me about 10 minutes.

I wrote down the solder points if anyone is interested... I can dig them up.  I tried to upload this photo to the image area but it wouldn't let me for some reason... just a blank page.

Looks like a really good job.

In fact from that picture looks like it is part of the original machine.

Im guessing you are very happy with the Video quality through this.

I know from experience from tv out on pc cards that only s-video makes the output viewable.

Excellent job! Nice mod. Where did you get the clock on your Clock Port? I want a clock port clock for my A4000.

Well, it's leaps and bounds better than composite, but nowhere close to RGB.  I can use the machine in hires, but hires laced is still pretty bad and almost unusable (if you want to keep your sanity).

Now, this is also on an LCD screen... I haven't tried it on a tube TV or monitor yet... when I do I will post the results.

I'm really beginning to think that a 1084s is the most practical monitor for these computers...

EDIT:

The clock came with my 1200 (used). Not sure where it was purchased... I was surprised to find it there when I opened it for the first time because I'd never seen one like that before.

Looks like you've got a clock on your accelerator. Would you consider selling my your clock port clock? I don't have a battery in my A4000 and don't want to solder one on, so a clock port clock would be ideal (assuming it would work with the clock port on a KickFlash or X-Surf)

It wont be at the same address as the A1200 so would require some rather custom software to load the time.
On the A2000/A500 you can add a clockport at the correct address by lifting a sticking a little board with an address decoder and clockport header on but I dont know of one for the A4000. :-(
