Hollywood CDs are personalized to the original purchaser.  You have to order them directly from Airsoft Softwair at the link above.

Agreed - support amiga software, there's too much piracy in amigaworld.  and given its supported - makes it good purchase.
Hey, do you own it?  if so how is it?
I'm not cheap like some amiga users (no one in this thread implied) but would like to know how good is it?

Two problems already:
- I read about the demo issue on their site.   Well no demo, then I have no clue how good is it...
- Too few screenshots showing the application.   It shows the results.  If its an animation, why not capture to MPEG and have it available to see?
- is it like SCALA?

I own Hollywood but not Hollywood Designer.  Hollywood by itself is a Basic-like programming language for multimedia.

With the Malibu plug-in it will import Scala presentations for use on 24-bit capable graphics cards.

With the Hollywood Designer package, it has a graphical environment somewhat like PowerPoint except that you can still edit the Hollywood scripts for greater control with Hollywood Designer's syntax-highlighting editor.

There is a PowerPoint importer plug-in coming out for it also.

@ terminator4

I own the 1.9x branch of Hollywood and Hollywood Designer. Unfortunately, I've barely used it. The Designer interface is nice and very adequate for putting together slide presentations. I haven't even started to look at the raw Hollywood language, but if you know the syntax you can embed it directly into objects within Designer.

I've also barely used Scala, but since Hollywood can display Scala presentations, I'm guessing it's very similar in function. Designer is visually very different from Scala's interface, but I think it accomplishes the same things on one high-res screen as opposed to switching between various low-res ones.

I think it's great to allow users such fine control over presentations through the scripting language, but I'd like to see more prominence given to the Designer part of the program for those who have trouble coding (like, er, me). For all I know, this has been addressed in 2.x, but with 1.9x, to really get to the powerful features, you had to do it by hand.

I own Hollywood and Designer.  Both are excellent, though not entirely without imperfections.  One thing I hope gets fixed (or improved) is the way it updates when scrolling through a large catalogue of images in the Designer window.. Thats just MHO..  In every other way its outstanding.  A lot nicer than Powerpoint -- by orders of magnitude.
Primary:
A4000T. Phase5 PPC604e-233mhz/060-66mhz. Mediator, Z3 Fastlane, Voodoo5, Delfina, X-Surf, AD516, Peggy Plus.

Collection:
A4000D, A1200, A500, Milan060 (Atari clone), Atari MegaSTE, Atari TT030, C64, C128, Mattel Aquarius, (2) HP Jornada....

Used Hollywood, but then its too expensive! If you use a classic Amiga, then dont waste your time and get Scala IC500 if you can. Hollywood has lots of nice features, but then Scala has a friendlier and built-in GUI, and has networking and billing cpabilities.
But then if you have a GFX card and 68060 then i d go for Hollywood.
