McBill cancels Thendic's contract in June 2007?
« on: July 03, 2007, 07:40:48 PM »
HERE

Umm.. Supposedly this contract was not sold from AI(W) to Itec, right? Did McBill just shoot himself in the foot and open himself up to new litigation?

I'm confused :-?
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

McBill's quite a character.  Now he asserts that Amiga, Inc. owns the word Amiga?
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

Well I for one think Mr. Bill writes a very professional letter. I don't believe the signing though "Very truly yours", I think he meant UP YOURS!  :roflmao:

Gotta run and take the Amiga logo off my PC before Bill sees it.

The man is quite obviously delusional.

Whenever I need a good chuckle I just pop into the Scamiga web site and read the company bio.  Talk about taking credit for anything and everything which you had absolutely nothing to do with.

The McBill videos on YouTube are priceless (I love the one where he brags about hiring people from M$...bwah ha ha!).

Someone doesn't know how to properly show a trademark registration on their letterhead according to the image on the website.

We all know what Bill Buck is up to. This letter is Amiga finally reacting to it.

This letter is hosted on the Genesi website. Interesting.

So, Amiga Inc revoked the right for some nebulus Amiga system (which Amiga Inc doesn't possess and didn't write -- neither AmigaOS 4 nor AmigaDE, for that matter!) to run on Genesi hardware (which was originally Thendic, I believe) due to Trademark infringements caused by the use of the word Amiga and a beachball symbol.

There, that just clears everything up........ HUH?!?!?!?

BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA
bill must be grasping for straws.... I'm worried about him.

I must now go down to the beach to sue people that are using the beach ball symbol without permission form Bill!  Then I will head to local bar and find out just how many unlicensed "amigas" are down there!
Poor Bill, not too smart.

Regarding the one claim about the bootmenu showing AmigaOS as an option...

1) I strongly suspect that to be a mockup, and if it isn't then...

2) It's obviously referring to some sort of network boot or virtual terminal type of setup. One of the other items in that menu was WindowsXP - absolutely no chance that's running natively on the Efika!

My guess is that Amiga is recognizing the Hyperion case turning against them and they're trying to flex their legal muscle on something they have a better chance at winning. Granted I don't follow these legal cases closely at all, but if I'm not mistaken the details of the Amiga/Thendic/Genesi arrangement were never made clear in public, which might give them a better chance at arguing their side in court.

Maybe he'll be like paris hilton and start selling T-shirts with a catch phrase on it, no wait he's already tried that..

As far as us all knowing what BBRV is "up to"... Let's see..

1) they sell hardware (their own platform) which is probably selling better than Amiga is at the moment.

2)Doing their own thing and being successful at it.

3)Not concerned about the Amiga community, except being there if someone wants to switch to their platform (Apple and Microsoft probably does this as well).

Just my two cents!I really honestly think anyone keeping the negativity to going in the community to makers of alternate platforms which has feature sets in common with Amiga that they are in the wrong!

I run an alternate platform in addition to my Classic Amiga, I run Windows, MacOS, and AROS.. GET OVER IT!!

No one cares if you are an Amiga user and you have animosity towards these other OSes, it's not going to make them go away or for people to stop using them. They solve an issue for people, and the people using them  really don't care and will continue to enjoy their use. Enjoy the fact we have so many options here we are truly lucky..

Well, i might be shooting my own foot now (you know, witness and stuff) but:

4. A post dated January 17 2007, entitled "Belgian Efika Nieuws" stating that "the EFIKA was demonstrated to an enthusiastic group of Amiga folks in Belgium," when in fact te demonstration was to Hyperion VOF (a former licensee of Amiga) and not to Amiga..

This is {bleep}. I was at that meeting. Someone from Genesi showed the Efika to us, showing how to install Linux, and overall performance. I even bought my Efika there. OK, someone from Hyperion happened to be there, but he is there at almost every meeting. He's part of our Amiga club. The Genesi guy was there at OUR request. We INVITED him there.

I've seen this repeated many times, but I don't believe it.  Why not?  Because after every departure, there is a return months (or often less) later.

For someone who doesn't care they seem to spend an awful lot of their energies on the subject.

Sounds like there's a disagreement over the phrase "Amiga folks." Amiga Inc. seems to assume that "Amiga folks" means them; I assume that bbrv meant the group of Amiga users present at the gathering.
