Lost Workbench Icons in OS3.5
« on: June 24, 2007, 04:18:40 AM »
Hi,

I'm in need of help. I changed some settings for display of my
devices to best quality, and now cannot see any icons on my workbench at all....I think the place I changed them was in a Preferences or Utilities, but now I cant find a way to change it back...can anyone help, please????....

I seem to recall there is a set of startup keys you can hold down during boot, that might assist, but I cant recall it either....

I have a A3000 with 2 HDs which uses a VGA screen and OS3.5.....

Thanks in advance   :-?  :-?  :-?  :-?

Not sure which of these it is, but open up a shell and rename/delete ENVARC:Sys/wbconfig.prefs or ENVARC:Sys/workbench.prefs and reboot. That should restore the defaults.

The icon quality probably made you run out of Chip RAM. I've never found any benefit in using anything other than the lowest possible setting. Make sure your icons are stored in 'other memory' as well.

Thanks,

Worked well, another lesson learned - the file was workbench.prefs.....

Cheers
