Amithlon update woes
« on: June 24, 2003, 10:37:28 AM »
I used to own the Amithlon/XL package but sold it when the dispute over the legalities arised. (as mentioned before.) Now I have the opportunity to get it back and I'm VERY tempted to get it again since it was a very good product but since the updates have been revoked is there any way to get them again? Can I contact Berndt Meyer anywhere or is it strictly a "no-no" on the updates?

The updates have not been revoked, just the start page has changed. Go to http://www.amithlon.net/en/amithlon_updates.shtml directly to download the updates (use Google if you ever forget the URL).

But you can be sure that Bernd Meyer will not contribute to Amithlon any more.

Bye,
Thomas

How recent are these update, and do they stay current?

The updates aren't very current, but they are plenty good enough.
Amithlon is a fine product and works just great with these upgrades.
I've used Amithlon ever since it came out and have found it to be
extremely stable even without the updates.

The GeForce 3 support is included in the kernel update.

Unfortunately, the updates are at an end, so you're not likely to ever see GeForce 4/FX support etc.

Also, out of courtesy, if you download the updates from amithlon.net you should probably drop Bernie a thank you mail and explain where you got your Amithlon from and when.  He won't come after you if he doesn't like what you tell him, but he likes to know these things.

How do you get in touch with him anyhow?

And your right, I never bought it, was going to then Amiga (gawd bless there hearts) killed the Dream. Fortunatly my friend found it for me, and aside of not being able to use it with this GFX card, I was really impressed by what I saw. I'll have to install it again sometime soon and try these updates. Thankx again.
