Ive had problems getting mmy mediator to detect pci cards, after sending the mediator report file to Elbox they have said to :

First of all as you have 030 processor set your
Envarc:Mediator/NoCache variable to Yes.

How do I do this?

the mediator configuration log file will be sent to the ram disc, so if you want to keep it you will have to move it.

Ive run the medconfig  and i cant see how to change nocache varible to yes. Elbox have said to create a txt file file which i can but the mediator envarc files are stored in the ram disk and i lose the varible i made when i turn off/on.

Sorry but ive not really had much to do with this side of things on an amiga, my last one i had was a 1200 with ppc/040 about 6 years ago and i never had this much trouble setting that up.

Create the text file in ENVARC: instead of ENV: and it will stay there when you reboot.

In every Amiga system, the ENVARC: assign should point to SYS:Prefs/Env-Archive/ directory. ENV: points to ram:env/.

So, ENVARC: is used to store data permanently while ENV: is reseted in reboot.

Check ENVARC:Mediator/NoCache (or SYS:Prefs/Env-Archive/Mediator/NoCache) file with some text editor (ED for example). If the file exists, change the first line to Yes if it's set to No. If the file doesn't exist, you can create it by typing that Yes to text editor and saving the file.

Other way to set the variable is to type in shell:
setenv Mediator/NoCache SAVE Yes
That's the "official" way to set variables, but OTOH, it loses the other information stored in the file. NoCache (as well as other Mediator config files in env) file should contain some help lines inside it by default, so I'd recommend the text editor way.

And in any case, I'd say you should read through all the files in ENVARC:Mediator/. They have pretty good explanations in each.
