Maybe a stupid question
« on: June 17, 2007, 03:19:33 AM »
Hello lads.

A question about the software for the cd32 and regular systems.

Can a regular amiga system (1000, 1200, 2000, 3000, 4000) read and use whatever software that were made for the CD32 system without any problems?

Regards

The CD filesystem needs to support CDTV and/or CD32 emulation. I have seen CD32 games and software running on an A4000. The CD32 is an unexpanded 1200 with CD.. There is expansion for a CD32 to make it an a1200 computer..

There is emulation software that allows running most CD³² titles on AGA machines.

The only exception are titles that poke Akiko C2P hardware directly.

Also some titles might malfunction with > 020 CPUs.

The best thing to do is to use WHDLoad to install the CD32 game to your Amiga's hard disk. The CD32 installers fix the game so it runs correctly on the Amiga.

Parahna,

only the A1200 and the A4000 can run CD32 games
the best way to run CD32 games and software on that computers is using the CD32 emulator by Oliver Kastl

This CD32 emulator comes with Idefix97 package and of course it run games on a perfect way like on a real CD32 console including cdda audio tracks

Motorollin,

how you can suggest the use of whdload to play cd32 games?
are you a newbie?

There are lots of WHDLoad installers for CD32 games which patch them to run on an A1200 or an A4000. Maybe you are the newbie

Motorollin,

whdload doesn't include any cdda audio emulation for CD32 games
if you like play CD32 games using whdload on a degraded way without the original audio it's your choice but not the best way

I am aware of that. That doesn't change the fact that it is a possibility.

Yep, you can consider me to be a newbie.

Been away from the amiga since the nieties. Uses my C64 and amigas only for recreational purposes when I haven't anything else to do. And thanks for your tip =)

@everybody.
Thanks. I saw some game titles that was only for the CD32 that I can buy and play now because of you

Keep up the good work

@ those arguing about the CD32 Emulation.

I know an even better way for him to run CD32 games without either of those programs...buy a Amiga cd32 from Ebay and play them that way.  Hey look 100% compatability LOL :-P  :-P    :devildance:

Well said Amigakid! - best excuse for buying more Amiga hardware that I can think of!

I used to have a CD32 with SX-32 card and a keyboard and disk drive - Why did I sell it?  I think I sold it for a Sega Saturn at the time.  Why???  Doh!

Right then - ebay.....

Just a quick update - I bought a CD32 :-)

See the other thread called CD32 (oddly enough).

Thanks Amigakid - you win the "best suggestion of the day" award!
