amiga floppy or cd?
« on: June 17, 2007, 12:19:42 AM »
Dear Amigans:

I am going to work to make new games for amiga (I am a hobbyist)...My question is..what kind of games you will rather play: a cd game..or a game in a few floppy disks?
I can easily make either one. I am thinking about making a floppy based game...that way everyone can play it in a classic amiga..even if the specs are low.
The cd game however..It will let me add lots of great stuff to the game..like beautiful 3d raytraced graphics and animations...but it will need more ram to be able to play it.The cd would be really good..but it can only be played by people that have a cd drive.
Pls help me...what do you think?

I don't really care if it's floppy or cd; as long as it's a fun playable game!

What sort of game are you planning?
Amiga 4000D Cyberstorm PPC 060@50 604@200 SCSI 130Mb Ram G-Rex Voodoo3 PicassoIV Paloma Ariadne Delfina Lite

I would appreciate either floppy or CD. A hard drive installer on the first floppy would be great of course. I guess you know that you can put an S drawer onto a CD-R and then use a program called CD-Boot to enable your Amiga to boot into it with maximum RAM available? (I use it to boot into CD32 games on both the A4000 and A1200)

Dear Amigans:

Thanks for your input. I will probably make many games...many more than just one. Then i can make a cd game and also a floppy game...different games. There are many kinds of games I will like to do..so I will do them all...one at a time.
My favorite kind of game is rpg, but I want to make other stuff too: like blood money, turrican, myst, and simulations-like ports of call.
what do you think??

your website at www.feryogi.com appears to be down

Now back on topic, any game for the amiga would be welcome at this stage, even if it were distributed in tapes...

Why not let the user decide when they purchase the game? They can order a CD, a floppy, or a downloadable lha file which they can extract to their hard disk.
