1200 with PCMCIA card CD rom
« on: June 10, 2007, 09:10:01 PM »
Can I fit a Teac CDRW drive that has a PCMCIA card to my A1200?

Got a ram card in the Amiga

Will it be fast enough?
Will it be able to write CDs?
What software does it need?
Ive got WB 3.1 in the 2.5" HD

Or would I be better using a Laptop CD I got..that cost less than £3 from ebay

Can I play normal audio CDs and MP3 CDs on the Amiga?

Well it's quite simple really: Do you have amiga drivers for the hardware in question?

Hi,

Also, if your RAM Card has 8 Meg Fast RAM installed that will block the PCMCIA port.

The only PCMCIA solution for SCSI devices is/was Squirrel SCSI (last version is called Surf Squirrel).

IDE drives are cheaper, but u need an IDE cable to the outside and set the CD as slave.

With an original (or unacelerated) A1200 you'll never be able to play MP3, not a single one. Not enough CPU power.

Get an acelerator (at least a 030/50MHz) with a lot of memory (32 Mb or more) and you can do the trick. Better with 040 or 060, even better with a PPC acel.

Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.
