LOL she doesn't use it (she browses the web and plays cards on the PC) and I told her I would hang the sheetrock and tape it (just a 12X10 room) in exchange for it.

Yeah Im stoked on it.  I have an A1000, A500, A2000 and an A1200 and finally getting the A4000 toaster system.  I can't wait to get her up and running.  I think I will expand her a bit, she has 18 megs RAM, 680040 processor a 32XcdROM and 500 MB HDD.  I think I will throw in a large HDD and put a CD-R in her as well as look for a graphics card, more RAM and ethernet  for her.  Should be a sweet system when im done with it.  I'll keep you all posted on the clean up, and upgrade process.  I think the first thing to upgrade though is from 3.0 ROM to 3.1 and OS up to at least 3.5, but I think I will put 3.9 on her.  If you have any suggestions let me know and I will consider them.  I want this miggy to be a little powerhouse for me.  Also if you can suggest any upgrades to my present systems.  My A1200 is pretty much upgraded as much as I want it to be it has an 030@40mhz, 32MB RAM, external power tower (via SCSI Squirel) with 2 HDD (1 260MB 2nd is 1 GB), 52X NEC CD-ROM.  The A500 only has a 4 MB Baseboard expansion and the A1000 has a 1MB Insider expansion.  Cheers and have fun in AmigaLand :-D  :-D

I seem to remeember that some people have reported problems with toaster systems and 3.1 roms, whilst others have said they have had no problems.  You might want to to do a search on this site and google before putting 3.1 roms in.

If you are going to use it mostly for the toaster environment, and lightwave of course, you'll most likely want to leave it as is. Larger HD and more ram for Lightwave, maybe a Warpengine to add scsi and expand ram easily. The VT is a 24 bit NTSC graphics card. If left as close to NewTek specs as possible, you'll likely experience less problems.

dude your should know this about GFX and scan doublers with the toaster.

the toaster does not work with most scan doublers, the only card that I could get to output SD and FF signal is the picassoIV.  Any other gfx card and you need and extra monitor for the toaster.  Ifcourse you still need a program and preview monitor.

another thing ppl forget is that the toaster is not zorro, it uses a video slot. the 4000T is the only amiga that has 2x video slots - hence the only one that you can add the GFX card in addition to the toaster.

good luck!
