HELP: CYBERVISION 64/3D IN A2000
« on: June 05, 2007, 09:55:11 PM »
I'm trying to install a Cybervision 64/3D card in my A2000 and I'm not having any luck with the installation of the CybergraphX software.

My A2000 is configured as follows:  Kickstart 3.1, 1 floppy, A2091 SCSI card (with the 2MB RAM disabled), Supra Corp 8MB RAM card, Cybervision 64/3D card, Castlewood 2.2GB ORB drive attached to A2091 external connector, CD ROM drive attached to A2091 internal connector.  Fresh OS3.1 installation on 1GB partition with empty 1.2GB partition.

I bought the CybergraphX 4 CD and installed it by using the update floppy disk to run the CD and then selecting all the default options.

After rebooting the machine I went to the preferences and tried to run the CGXMode prefs, but go a "Unable to open cgxsystem.library v42" error.  I opened the CD and found another update option in there which claimed to "fix" a problem with libraries being copied to teh wrong locations.  I ran this, selected all teh default options and tried to run the CGXMode prefs again, but go the same error.

I have looked in the Sys:Libs draw and the cgxsystem.library file is located there.

Does anybody have any ideas so that I can get away from this 16 colour high-res PAL workbench?  Thanks in advance.   :-)

try to have only 4MB on the Supra card... I think it will work then... the cv64/3d maps it's memory in the 8MB zorroII limit (like all rtg)

Thanks for that tip.  I'll give it a try shortly.  I have the ORB drive hooked up to my A3000 at the moment as I decided to install 3.1 on another ORB disk and try installing the Cybervision in the A3000 to see if I get the same error.  I made the mistake of clicking on "Format", instead of "Quick Format" after partitioning the ORB cartridge and now I'm watching paint dry.   :-D

I'm still waiting for the format to finish, but you're certainly on to something.  I checked the expansion board screen in the startup menu and the CV card was showing a problem which then corrceted itself once I removed the Supra card and activated the 2MB on the SCSI card.

Nope, that didn't work.  It still gives the same error and so does the "showcgxconfig" tool.  The bloody library is in the Libs draw, so what's the bloody problem?  Oh well, I'll try installing the card in the A3000 use CGX 3.0.  Wish me luck.

I've just got it working on the A3000 using CGX 3.0 with no problems - just install the RTG software, reboot, select a CGX screenmode from the list and it works.

I'm going to try uninstalling CGX4 from the A2000 and install CGX3 and see if that makes a difference.

At least I know the card works.   :-D

OK, I have CybergraphX 3.0 installed on the A2000, but the CXG monitor driver causes the system to lock up.  I get the following error when booting:

Devs:Monitors/CVision64 Program Failed.

Removing the file allows Workbench to boot as normal, but obviously no CGX screen modes are available.  I tried replacing teh file from the one on the CGX4 CD, but the same error occured.

Does anyone know if this error is because I'm using a 68000 processor?  Does anybody have CGX3 or CGX4 running on a 68000?

Cheers.

CVision64 is not the correct driver. The monitor driver you want is CVision3D.

EDIT: And CGX4 requires an 020 or better. Don't know about v3.

Thanks.  I replaced the monitor driver for the CVision3D.Z2 monitor driver and got the same lockup.

I think it is the 68000 as both CGX3 and CGX4 ask you whether you are using a 020, 030, 0404 or 060 processor during the installation with no option for a 68000.  This probably explains why the A3000 with the 030 has no trouble.  I guess I need to get a CPU card for the A2000.

Thanks for all the help.
