Warp3D/VooDoo3 3000. Do they work together????????
« on: June 22, 2003, 04:31:58 AM »
Hello,
    I'm having difficulty getting Warp3D to work with my VooDoo3 3000. Could someone give me a rundown on setting this up?
    I've got P96 running properly.
    WarpOS is running properly (that was an interesting task).
    I Installed the Warp3D that comes on the MMCD and tried setting the "gfxaddress" and "force" settings, but to no avail.
    I REALLY would like to be able to at least try the Freepsace demo - maybe even get the game someday....
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
SunBlade 1000 2x1200mhz UltraSparc III+, 8GB RAM, XVR1000, 73GB and 300GB FC drives, DVD, SunPCi IIIpro - 1GB RAM (yes it does work when I set the clock back to 2009), Solaris 10.

Do you use the MMU or non-MMU version of the Mediator driver? What happens if you are trying the demos?
Look out, I\'ve got a gun

you can just forget your MMU when you have an a1200 + ppc + mediaor , so you will only have half of the rtg mem compared to in 68k mode.
 for me it was 8mb.

i can send u all my settings but i think the best is if you learned this by dooing all the steps 1 by 1.

pps:payback w3d was the first game i got running with w3d in wos mode...quake was the last one.., anyway all works superb here now .

@Rogue
Non-MMU.
For Freespace, I get a gray screen and lockup.
For Shogo, I get a gray screen and a shell on the Workbench with multiple error messages about being unable to lock the screen.
For the Warp3D test, I get the blue screen and I can change the settings, but no 3D whats-it.

@lempkee
Welllllllll, I bought my Blizzard second hand and had no manuals or instructions. The Mediator of course was new. It was interesting in that I had to research quite a bit on the internet before I found everything.
I'll go through the Warp3D stuff again..

@Sloxa
I have several files with "Avenger" in the name in my Warp3D directory...

The games work with the software renderer, but they're  WAAAAAAAAAAY too slow.

Hi

Rogue! Nice avatar!

I have almost the same setup as you, and the same trouble with W3D as you.

What´re the settings I have to configure it the WOS preferences? the gfx address? any concrete HEX address? terminator 1, 2,?

I think I have it running AMIAMP is running via WOS, and the warpdatatypes.

The W3D. When I run the full screen of the demos 68k and ppc are running, the window ones doesn´t.

The other demos, these with the texture with blending options and so, ir running butta I doesn´t see the texture! :)

If I try the PayBack demo I get grey screen.

Please help!

PS: Forgive my bad english. At this exactly moment I have been up to 40 hours withuot sleeping, getting ready for my final examination tomorrow "Radiation of digital signals via air" sigh!  :-o

to all in here who have probs with p96/w3d/wos on a voodoo3  , just email me privately and i will send you the complete settings files.

(the correct env's)  because i just tried to post here (text) and found out its better to just email a small and tiny lzx with all what u need.

cheers

pps:quake2,shogo,freespace,payback,blitzquake etc all works on my setup with the vodoo3.
and pup emu etc :)

(the people who helped me was the guys from hyperion (timothy and steffenH. etc) a long while back + the mediator group did also alot for me ...

Sorry to bump such an old thread but I have added a Mediator SX to my BlizzardPPC setup and get the same behaviour the person here is getting.

Are you still able to E-mail those files lempkee? I would like to have a look.

Also, I'm a bit dissapointed so far with the solid window moving speed. The Grex/Voodoo3/CyberGraphx combination does this waaaaaaay faster.

hi 2 all.

das anyone know, why i can't use 68k and ppc warp3d together ?:) I mean if i want to use ppc/wos/w3d, i set in env:mediator/MMU - No, but in this case 68k warp3d can't work. And if i set MMU in Yes, 68k warp 3d working, but ppc warp3d can't work :)

So, i need change MMU,reboot,etc - so hard. Maybe here is the way for easy 'on the fly' MMU setting (without reboot), or maybe need some more preferens somewhere ?

Well I just managed to get warp3d working with p96/voodoo3/68060 and so far it seems to need a little tune-up.

First of all nothing will run windowed, and if I run payback in "hardware rendering mode" it's really slow. In "software rendering" its quite fast but looks ass.

Any ideas peeps?
Restraining orders are just another way of saying I love you!

another enviroment (CVPPC) but same result if a set the RAM waistates to OFF.

Now with the RAM option sets to 60ns, PaybackDemo works on W3D.

Have you installed the right drivers from the MMCD? The automatic script on the CD usually copies across the WRONG drivers (i.e. the A3000/A4000 for the A1200 and vice versa)

use MediatorX or something to check you have the right drivers and then copy across the correct ones.
