WTB: A2000 stuff (accelerator,ECS chips, etc...)
« on: May 29, 2007, 05:22:10 PM »
I was just given an A2000 rev 4.5 (OCS) w/ GVP scsi/ram(2mb) and 2.04 rom. I was hopeing to be able to upgrade it on the cheap. Is it possible to get an 020+881 accelerator (cpu slot or 68k socket) for $20-$30 USD? How much would a fatter agnus or super denise cost? Are there any other upgrades that I could "play" with for $10-20/ea (ie amax, flicker fixer, rtg card, etc...).

Looking for some realistic advise.
Thanks,
Joe Kelly

4.5 is crap, get 6.2 (have one very good one if interested, brand new cover).  Cheap???  lol nothing for amiga is cheap if  contrasted to pc (nothing has been made for amiga in 10 yrs so prices are higher as anythign collectable, remember what pc stuff cost 10 yrs ago?).  020 board - sold one last year for 40$.  I got super denise chip - let me knwo if interested. flicker fixer or rtg for $20??? no way, not in my best xxx dream ;-) :-D
I got graphics card but may be not in your price ranges you mentioned. Amiga isn't commodore 64 (some users come from c64 environment and expect low budget stuff with amiga).

Thanks for the info. The prices seem a little high for my passing interest, but hey - it's a free market... With the way WinUAE works, I'll just use the rig to convert all my amiga disks. When I'm done, is the A2000 of any real value, like > $100?

nope

that is, unless you expand it with turbo_card/scandoubler/gfxcard..

You want realistic advice?  Ok you got it.  If you are expecting to pay $30 for upgrades, you will be left dissapointed!  Parts are rare and will fetch more than that.  Some will be easy to find in that range (SCSI cards, HDs, 16-bit RAM cards, etc) but others will go up considerably.  The best place for parts is ebay unless you score some stuff local.  (I got a whole A2000 system with monitor for free recently)
