JimS

Thanks for the help, I think i will try the inline fuse holder idea, we have a Radio Shack here so I will try there first.

  Keep the faith!

Same problem on an A500, it happened to be a bad resistor just near the port.

First thing I would do is replace all of those emi filter capacitors, if 1 is bad then chances are that the others are not far off.

Well, you've done pretty much the same thing, probably a bit cheaper. ;-) I'd suggest some heat shrink on the metal ends of that fuse though.

What rating fuses did you use? I will have a go at the same solution.

You can still get the original type of fuse, they are just classed as subminiature axial lead fuses.
In the UK JPR Electronics sell them for 12p each (£30 minimum order ;-) )

4A

it should be the same as the original picofuse, but it does seem rather large, at 12V that would be like 48W or so.. :inquisitive:
its not that hard to find picofuses, but they are very expensive compared to standard ones..

Thanks for pointing out where the fuse is.  I have an A2500 with that problem-- joystick works but mouse does not.  However, for the non-technically inclined, I would recommend trying the following simulation cable to isolate if it's the 5V problem:

If the simulated mouse works and the real mouse does not, you know it's the 5V problem.

You could also put a 5V battery into your mouse...
