Erm, you have to put them back exactly where they came from  :-o

Questions:

1. Why did you take them out ?
2. Did you put them back in the right sockets ?
3. Did you leave the gap at the correct end ?
4. Did you protect the chips from static damage while they were out of the A1200 ?

Good luck  :-)

You probably installed them backward. That can damage the board. I would make sure you have chips installed with the notch or dimple on the chip facing the PCMCIA slot. Take a look at this photo. Also make sure you have them in the socket correctly as shown. http://www.amiga-hardware.com/download_photos/a1200mb_rev1d4.jpg

No, There is only one rom in the 500. They are not compatible. Also try switching the chips to make sure you have them in the right socket.

You prob put them in backwards.  The A500 ROM will not work as there are 2 in the A1200.  I would look on Ebay for some ROMS.  I'll look and see if I still have my 3.0 ROMS for my A1200.  Cheers and good luck

You possibly fried your chips. Is also possible to destroy the mobo? I always thought that were the chips the ones that could get broken in case of wrong way connection.

On the A1200 you need to orinetate the ROMs so the notch on the rom is on par with the notch on the ROM sockets... however the sockets have 2 pins to much and therefore you should leave the first pair of pins free. If you do not do this or turn it around it'll fry the ROMs, however the motherboard will most likely be just fine.
