A4000T with 060 on Ebay
« on: May 25, 2007, 05:26:12 AM »
I just spotted a 4000T on Ebay with an 060 and toaster 4000. The guy selling it is Barry, he is the one I bought 3 4000T's from about 5 months ago. I also bought a brand new 1200 back in 1993-94 from him when he and another person were running an Amiga shop (AV Solutions)in the twin cities area in Minnesota. Barry has been great to deal with and has sold numerous items on Ebay and is right on the money with his descriptions IMO.

I'm sure you're not the only one! :lol:

But since there's no shipping outside the US, and it will probably go for too much money anyway, I think I'll refrain from bidding :-)

He's really limiting the price by not offering shipping outside the US..  I mean what difference does it make ??  Big deal, so you have to do a little extra paperwork to send it to Toronto.. Foolish of him not to welcome int'l bidders, imho.  Good for me, however.    :-D  :-D

@stopthegop

I know when I purchased mine from him he was glad that he didn't have to ship them, he was afraid they might get wrecked in shipping.

Yeah they are big and heavy things, a cardboard box, even double walled, probably wouldnt be enough, I know my RBM Towerhawk would probably need a crate to ship it without risk of damage.

Yeah, thats true.  The trick is not necessarily the packing (though that surely is important), but to ship it the fastest method you can afford.  The more time the box spends in transit, the more chances for it to get damaged by the shipping monkeys.

@stopthegop

That's true. I bought an A4000T and had it packed and air shipped by UPS and it arrived just fine in a couple days.

I also just recently bought an A3000 that was shipped ground by the USPS. It took almost 2 weeks to get to me and it was all smashed up when I received it!

I would love to bid on that A4000T in the auction, especially since I know someone that would pick it up for me. I have a strong feeling that the auction will probably reach or exceed $1000.00 however and since I already own one, well...

Good luck to who ever wins it.

Jeff

Just curious, why do you want a busted A4KT mobo? Wouldn't a blank board from Vesalia do then?

hehe, Im ahead of you, I already have five of those blank A4000T boards (I got them from a guy on ebay along with a blank 3640 board, I think it was the guy who sold the boards to Vesalia.. maybe)
The problem is the service manual scan aint the best and although there are a few decent photo's on the net of a few sections of the motherboard there isnt enough to do everything... I tried. (I could have tried harder I guess)

So get a dead A4KT board and copy it is the next step.
Or as its turns out, buy a nice A4000T from an a.org member in the US with a dead IDE port and a missing front door then ship it over to the UK by USPS.
Taking bets on condition on arrival! :-o
