MUI Installing problem
« on: May 20, 2007, 08:51:16 AM »
Hi folks! Got a spot of bother trying to Install MUI. Miggy is an A4KT with PPC604e. I had to re-Install for trashing my 18Gb Drive. (Another thread)

Fortunately, I had just Prepped another 8Gb Barracuda on the PPCSCSI, so I used the OS3.9 Boot Disk & Installed OS3.9 & Installed Boing Bags 1 & 2. After this, I got all the Mediator Drivers on; Voodoo 5500 all setup; Ethernet drivers on; & then faced "MUI".

I needed to get MUI on so I could Install Miami & get the Internet all setup with iBrowse. (also needs MUI) When running the Install, I get this Error in the "Install Process GUI":

Sorry an Error has Occured!

COPYLIB: Can`t open file " " in line 299
DOS Error Type: Unable to locate a file or drawer

There is a Proceed Gadget at the bottom of the Install Process GUI & obviously quits the Installer & doesn't install MUI.

I installed 3.1 on another partition, only installed the 040 & 060 Libs & then ran MUI Install again! Ironically, it gave the same Error! :-?

Anyone got any suggestions please?

If you extracted the MUI archive with UnARC, this might be the reason for your problems, as it have problems with files without characters. Use LHA.run from Aminet to get a working LHA extraction tool, and extract the archive again. You should be able to install without problems now, both on OS3.1 and 3.9.

you have to extract mui once more from the archive if you already installed it once. mui install deletes a file when it has been installed once, you can't reinstall until you re-unzip it from the archive.
