HARD DRIVE issue... URGENT PLS!!!!

Hello!

I'm setting up my A3000 with some stuff I've got today.
But I'll tell you later about my new cards...

Now my problem regards the hard drive.
It is a Seagate 7200.9 250GB. HDToolBox (AOS3.9) can't read correct information and it says me that the total space is only 7GB :-(
I've found on the net infos about cyl, heads etc... but if I put manually them the total space isn't correct.
If I try to put "custom" values, I can reach the dimension of my hard drive but I don't think it is the correct way.

Please... what can I do?

My actual configuration is:

A3000
Cyberstorm MkII 060/50
Cybervision 64
Catweasel II + BuddhaIDE (the HD is there...)

I bet it is too large, that's why u get a wrong reading!

I very much doubt the buddha can do 48bit addressing, so you cant use a harddrive above 160gig (I think thats right) on it.
As its an A3000 your only option is an IDE to SCSI adaptor and hook it up that way.
Or e-mail Elbox to see if their Z3 powerflyer can be updated to 48bit addressing, the same as the A1200 one is.
Otherwise your stuck.

Isn't the latest version of HDToolbox hidden on the OS3.9 CD somewhere and not installed with OS3.9?

I'm probably wrong, but it's worth checking out the versions on the CD (they're in different places).

your probably thinking of the one in the 3.5 drawer in the 3.9 CD, its different but I dont know if it fixes anything.

If you know the number of cylinders etc do try entering them manually, If you can enter them and HDToolbox says its ok then its ok... I dont think it will though.

I tried so but total space seems be just 7.9GB.

I think I'll change HD, sigh  :-(

Now HDToolBox "reads" 127.9GB.
That's not the total available space but... I can accept it ;-)

The standard A1200 and A4000 (most likely the A600 as well) IDE interface can't adress more than 127 GB, and the Buddha is more or less the same as the IDE interfaces on the mentioned Amigas. 127 GB is all you will get. Just an FYI.

Glad to hear you're up and running.

But yeah, what's it called? LBA? Something to do with the 120-something GB limit on old IDE controllers. I don't know if there are any controllers for the classics that support it. Nor can I imagine what I'd use all that space for :-)

... just another question: the HD parks after some minutes of inactivity. I don't like this setting... how can I change it?

I don't remember HD park in my other Amigas  :-?
