Getting online with APNET A1200 PCMCIA Network Card?

Hey all,
Having finally gotten my new amiga (after 7 years away from the scene!), I'm using 720K floppies to transfer stuff and that's getting really old!

I want to get online with this network card but it's not working.

I go through a router to connect. I've tried various settings in Miami but no luck so far.

Should I use another TCP/IP stack? Of course I'll have to move it via 720K floppies again...

Is there something special about this card or amiga as far as getting on the net thru a router?

If you use OS3.9, you could use Genesis (built-in in 3.9).

Or try download it Aminet.

Also look at the actual official page of cnet.device, there is a lot of information about hardware in there. And a cool program to check if your card is working.:-D

Have you got the latest version of cnet.device from Aminet?

I have had no trouble connecting to various networks, but it is easiest if you have a static IP.  Find out the MAC address of the APNET card and set the router to give it a specific IP, then set the IP manually in Miami.  (This is a worst-case scenario).

It should work with DHCP, however.  Need to know more about your network topology and the settings in Miami.  Generally, it should not take too much snooping to match the right settings.

I'll try that stuff out when I get home from work, seems like I should get it working with latest cnet though maybe I'll have to move genesis by floppies.

Get Amiga Explorer... you can drag files from windows to the Amiga via null modem cable.. and forget those 720k floppies.

Once you get the files there, you can remove the serial cable and drag and drop files via tcp/ip

It can be a a little slow, but man it's easy.  Great program and CHEAP too.

MAny moons ago, befor taking the dsl way, i used to connect to Internet with my A1200 using the Apnet device and latest cnet.device.

What are your exact problems?

I also had Miami 3.0c (if my my mind doesnt plays tricks on me), and never ever had any kind of trouble...

Do you want to get to an dsl line straight away, or you have a PC and want to share internet connection using a router?

It actually turned out to be that A1200 PCMCIA problem. By running cardreset at bootup the APNET started working correctly and I got online automatically via DHCP.
