« on: May 13, 2007, 02:48:39 PM »
Who remembers that funny game?
I remember to spend hours in front of my Amiga playing it, though I never got used to only playing 5 rounds...
Is there any full version of the game available?

Scorched Tanks is one of only a few games sitting in my Games: partition that won't get deleted :-D

Hmmm never knew there was a 3D version for windoze ... must download and take a peek 8-)

However, this has been taking up a few cycles of my CPU time recently (even if it for PC) Typhoon 2001

Now ... if the author ported THAT to the miggy in all it's glory I'd be a happy bunny  :-)

hadn't played it for years.
Lost it when an older hd died
Forgot all about it.
Then recently, somebody mentioned it on another forum.
Downloaded it again and played it quite abit since.

You might take a look at Frontal Assault since the Amos source code is available.  It takes a bit more memory and download time but it is definitely worth it if you have a system with 2 megs of chip ram and 2 megs of fast.

And as for Scorched Earth, that was the original PC version but it hasn't been maintained for a decade.

Also, Scorched Tanks version 1.85 had a bug in it when you were using one particular land formation because it would make transparent dirt so as soon as you cracked through the shell at the top you would fall far down to the bottom of the scrolling area!  1.75 was the last bug-free version.

That's where my avatar is from!  I love that game.

I play Scorched 3D quite a bit now with co-workers.  It's pretty awsome.

Yes, Scorched Earth, I think it was, and I had a registered version, 1.90 or 1.95, something like that, worked great till I upgraded one of the libraries (amos.library?) and the sound stopped working.  Could never get it to work right again, after that, but the game still played, and I'd just work it with the stereo on, anyway, so who needed sound?  ;-)

I remember one night was playing it with a buddy, and the power went off in a hurricane, but since my Miggy was hooked up to a UPS, we didn't even notice - just kept right on playing till my mom hollared down the stairs that the power was out, LOL!   :-D

Scorched Earth was the PC game that spawned all of the others.  Scorched Tanks was one of the Amiga spin-offs.  I played it until I downloaded Frontal Assault which was better because it allowed more than 4 tanks at a time.  Both are written in AmosPro so there may be some hope at running them again in the future as Mattathias Basic becomes more useful.

Oooh, played that too - looks very very nice. I found it a little annoying on the later levels but still lost a few hours to it!
