31kHz Screen Tearing Fix?
« on: May 11, 2007, 02:14:33 PM »
Some time back I made a 23/15 pin VGA adapter which worked really well except when in 31kHz DblPal mode, when after a while the screen would 'tear'.  I initially put this down to overheating.  However, I since found out that it's a problem that affects rev 1D.4 & 2D boards only.

Is this caused by the well documented 'timing issues', or is it something else entirely?  If it is something else - is there an effective cure (besides not running in DblPal)?

TIA.

I believe that some models did infact suffer from heat issue, and i heard that attaching a small heatsink to the chips in question will help.

That it only comes a while after powering on, suggest to me that this is indeed heat and not a timing issue.

Thanks for that Tomas - I'll pop a small heatsink on the chips and install a fan for good measure. :-)
