@Methuselas

Don't be so nervous. Noone accuses you for void promises, taking our money, or preventing AmigaOS 4 from coming out. I'm just sceptical and a bit ironic on the subject. You are saying, that you took the initiative, but what the initiative is - nobody knows. Also read please a few of your own words:

Well....I tried posting this, as a news article, but apparently, it's not considered news. (amiga.org)

I tried to post this, as a news annoucement, but it was rejected. (amigaworld.net)

Food for thought?

Or it could be that he refused to work with Amiga, Inc. again. He's not exactly known for his "proper" forum activities, constantly slamming Amiga, Inc. I just stated, what I know; that I sent him a request to hear me out, as I did all the parties, involved and he's the only one that didn't respond, at all.

In fact, my original business proposal was to have OS4 ported to Efika, so there would be two, different boards on the market, at the same time. 3, actually, if ACK's boards aren't vapor, but I believe in ACK about as much as I think George W. Bush is the perfect, model President. Then again, ACK wasn't even involved in my final proposal, at all.

*laughing*

I'm not nervous. Well, actually, I am, but not for what you think. I'm nervous that they'll reject it. I don't blame you for being skeptical. I was too. In fact, I started this, the day after the whole Lawsuit fiasco began.

I'm tired of all the BS, you know? Just like everyone else. I just tried to do something about it. That's all.

For what it's worth, I'm really upset I didn't get a response from BBRV, 'cos I was hoping to finally bring the Red and Blue camps together, once and for all.  :-( Regardless of what OS you're using, be it OS4, AROS or MorphOS, I still think of us all as Amigans.

If you actually talk to BBRV, please ask him to hear me out and I'll go over my business proposal with him, too. I'd really like to have Genesi on board.

Or it could be that he refused to work with Amiga, Inc. again.

It is a perfectly understandable decision, taking Amiga Inc. business records into account.

@Methuselas:

You've done well writing the e-mail, I can't see how it could hurt the current Amiga situation. I agree with the fact that all Amiga-related parties should join forces instead of irritating eachother over and over again, preventing hardware and software to materialize.

Now the big problem I see in this is that all armies are lead by egos too big to wear a helmet, flexible like a cubic meter of solid steel. Getting those egos to burry their differences and actually start to co-opereate creates the need of a strong, charismatic president, respected by all. Only then I guess their might be a chance of long-term delivery of new products branded Amiga or Amiga-compatible.

My guess would be that the first to deliver new Amiga hardware could well become that president needed. (So Dennis, release the Minimig ;-)).

Personally, my financial situation at the moment is as such that I do have to wait 'till summer just to be able to by a new Amiga so I've no problem to give them another 3 to 4 months the benefit of the doubt.

My half cent

Get a SAM, while you can! The new AMIGA is here!

Thanks. It meant a lot to me. I poured my heart and soul into it.

You'd be surprised. At first, everyone was a bit skeptical, except for Bill McEwen. Then, after a few correspondences, they realized that I was trying to do something positive and responded favorably.

Part of my proposal was that Amiga, Inc. polish their tarnished image. I made a point to let them know that we had no faith in them, anymore. That we needed to know that they were for real, this time. I hope I made some head-way.

Hans-Joerg told me, in our converstaions, that it would be an estimated 2 months to port OS4 to the "mystery device", possibly less if they got support from Amiga, Inc. As for a "Retro" Amiga, don't worry, it's taken care of. :-)

If they follow my proposal, you're looking at a new board, bundled with OS4, for less than 500$.

[EDIT] - That price on the board, bundled with OS4 depends on whether or not you have a coupon and what version of OS4 you get. My proposal called for two, different Retail Versions.

Hi!

Yup, got my email. Don't usually turn my machine so early on a Saturday morning but had to be up early to see a guy about cleaning up the garden!!

So what does it all mean and does it mean anything. Got the tshirt years ago but still haven't had the nerve to wear it in public!

I remember thinking just b4 buying my first PC that if I did buy a PC then the Amiga renaissance would probably be succesful. Proved me wrong so far but we live in hope.

I find using Amiga Forever on the PC and now on my new laptop is great. The speed is amazing and will any new Amiga hardware  be as fast?

Happy bank holiday weekend to all UK Amigans.

I appreciate your effort. Please try to stay calm and don't ruin whatever chance you may have by talking too much and too early.

Also note that you are dealing with existing businesses with existing problems and plans, and uniting them may require more than enthusiastic words and creative ideas.

Also note that these emails (I have already complained to Ray about not receiving any despite my MEMBERSHIP!) may to a   great degree just be a part of their current projects [Edit: and lawsuits, as was observed elsewhere ;-)].

I won't go into details on what's in the Business Proposal, but I hope this will make you guys realize what I was trying to do for all of us. I was tired of everyone sitting here, saying "someone should do something". My cover letter. I won't say who all received my proposal, though.

[long rhetorical letter snipped]

Hey Methuselas....you wouldn't be related to Starke, would you?  :lol: Your writing sounds like him!

I like your enthusiasm, but seriously: if you're under the impression that Bill McEwen read your rally-round-the-flag "proposal" and then only hours later suddenly had a change of heart and decided to issue the coupon rebates, you might be being a litte naive.  Again, no offense meant, but this seems highly unlikely.

More likely your "proposal" went straight into his e-mail Trash-bin like the three or four others he gets exactly like it each week.  Heck, he might even have a SPAM filter for e-mails with the phrases "Comeback, Rise Again, Show the World", etc. etc.

@Thread

Wow! This is a suprise!

It makes you wonder why they didn't say a long time ago that they having problems, very sorry and will try to sort everything out when the good times return. It would have saved a lot of grief.

Bty - personally I would rather Bill put my $50 (and the others) towards paying Opera for a port to OS(4 or 5).

Were these replies you received really any more substantial than:

"Dear {insert name here},

Thank you for your continued support for {Amiga/Hyperion/Samantha/etc.}.  We have forwarded your correspondence to the appropriate department.

Sincerely {Amiga/Hyperion/Samantha/etc.} support staff."
?

Do you think that these companies weren't aware of the rift, or bad feelings of the users before?  Most of them read the forums and know how we all feel.

@Methuselas

What exactly is your proposal?  I'm sorry but so far it sounds just like the usual "let's conquer the world" pie-in-the-sky Jim Collas type of banter.  Could you please be more specific?  I don't see how any of this should be a big secret.  After all, noone is reading these boards except a bunch of retro die-hards and MorphOS fans.

I think it much more likely the late night emails about the Club Amiga coupons are simply yet another shifting of the shell game of words and empty promises in response to Hyperions' insinuation recently of fraudulent activities by AInc such as Club Amiga, etc.  You see there's this general legal principle in contract law called 'the clean hands doctrine'.  Basically, if two parties have a contract dispute, a court will not look favorably on a party demonstrating bad behaviour (i.e. dirty hands), in this case AInc's fraudulent marketing schemes where real money passed hands and there was defrauding of the consumer (very bad).  Naturally, AInc want to make it appear no fraud really occurred by honoring the coupons now (or at least making it appear so).  It's just like the ACK phantom hardware spec., pretending to release hardware mirroring the ACube design to give substance to AInc.'s potential damages claim about 'first to market'.  All of this is being done at the request of AInc's legal counsel, you can bank on it.  It's all just legal posturing to improve their legal suit against Hyperion.

We are all being so used by AInc in their current lawsuit if we just blindly think their activities right now have *anything* to do with their plans other than to wrest the OS4 IP from Hyperion.  That's the goal here, and BBRV got that much right you'd have to admit.
