mp3 player
« on: June 17, 2003, 12:48:04 PM »
I want to play mp3 files but also would like to have a forward function (inside the song) in the player. Which one supports this feature besides songplayer ?

My beast is A1200PPC240Mhz/68060 and play mp3 at full quality with songplayer, amigaamp, mp3play and prayer. I just need to move inside the song but besides songplayer, none of the above are available to do that.

I used to play mp3s in full quality (or as much of full quality you can get from the standard Amiga audio) in real time on my A1200 with a 060/50Mhz. I haven't used my Amiga in a long time now so I can't remember what program I used.

i just installed the latest WinUAE with OS3.9 BB2. I thought i had the newest datatypes, etc but everytime i try to play mp3's with Amplifier it crashes with the word "MPEG decoder" in the alert window.
i'm sure i'm missing something obvious here. :-o

Have you tried AmiNetRadio?

Download from here

I got it to FastForeward... But I'm not sure if it just was an incidence :-)

Please check your links before posting them. That URL is totally wrong. The correct one is:

Cecilia: Isn't BB 2 just aimed at Amiga XL?

Anyway, I can run MP3's in Amplifier after a fresh OS3.9 install with BB 1 added. Might want to try a reinstall or check that the MP3's work in another player.

For such a system I'd recommend AmigaAMP 2.7 (I think its up to version 2.8 maybe but I recall that version was flaky).

For best results you need AHI installed and asyncio.library.

On my 040 25MHz / 603e 240MHz it's very smooth and contrary to many peoples claims doesn't use that much CPU power, at least as far as I can see.

You also get a functioning graphic equalizer and support for various visualisation plugins :-)

-edit-

Not sure what you mean by moving inside the song but the position bar in AmigaAMP seems to do just that...Also the left and right cursors move forwards/backwards in 5 second increments IIRC

when i bought OS3.9 from a user group the guy told me to use BB1 and 2 with my amiga 2000.
it's not vital i be able to do this, but i'll keep investigating.

I tried aminetradio and it is great, plus it is exactly doing what I want, (plays mp3 files from CD, with a forward button to listen to the next 10s of the song and know if I like it or not).

If I am not mistaken, Amplifier uses the mpega.library. Make sure you have that in libs in the correct version. It is on aminet.
