I run OS3.9 on my A3000 with 8M Fast ram and it works great. I dont have a cd in my A3000 so i transfer my installation files with a null modem cable from my PC.

IMHO, running OS3.9 without a graphics card is fairly pointless... You'd be better off running 3.1 and getting updates to "make it look pretty" plus necessary filesystem driver updates, etc, from Aminet.

never had a problem - in fact some of those pretties were starting to be integrated better into os3.9 with stability being improved.

My OS3.9 system for years was A1200 030@25MHz with 8MB Fast RAM, a 2 port IDE dongle with a CD ROM.
I used to surf, and email from it - I was even able to do those two things concurrently, and no graphics card !

of course its NICE to have graphics cards, and its more convenient, but pointless ? no...

I agree with Agafaster here. OS3.9 without a graphics card is well worth it for the integrated experience you get (and no incompatible dirty hacks). Although AGA native slows things down a bit it is still very responsive as long as you have an accelerator and some FAST mem. If you want to view lots of big jpegs then forget it the chip ram isn't there. But otherwise it is a good upgrade. And if you have a 1200 like me that you don;t want to tower the option of a BVision is a bit pricey and hard to justify :-)
