Apollo 2030 SCSI
« on: March 26, 2007, 09:10:28 PM »
After I always get an error message when I put that card plus my GVP Impact HC-2000+8 Series II in. I put my drives onto the Apollo.

But when I run the HD-Install programm. The Amiga crashes at the search for devices. When I turn on the SCSI-Boot nothing happen (after 2 minutes! of waiting).

Following config

Apollo (must be ID 0; you can't jumper anything here)
HDD 1GB (ID 1)
SCSI CD-ROM (ID 2) This one is terminated via Jumper.

Can someone help me please. After I get my accelerator I want to test everything.

AFAIK, the SCSI part of Apollo 2030 is very troublesome and it's best to not use it.

But when I put my GVP back in I get an error like this one

--- gvpscsi.device: unit 00
    unexpected status $ff/$00 ---

If I put the Apollo out. Everything works.

I've managed to find a manual (in German though) for it.

http://amiga.resource.cx/manual/Apollo2030.pdf

Try and play with on-board Apollo 2030 jumpers and see if the SCSI controller can be disabled.

That no manual. Just a extra. The SCSI controller can't be deactivated just the auto boot.

You`ll be gray and old before you get anything to work on the SCSI controller of the 2030. It is by far the worst controller I ever came across, just forget about it.
Not really interesting, but it`s there.

I got Apollo2030 too, tried everything but it just wont work. There are some slight problems even when SCSI is disabled (there's a jumper)and Oktagon2008 is used. (cant see HDD in early startup).
You have to wait for really long time to get to boot screen, sorry don't remember how long. I know I was surprised when boot screen appeared, but IIRC only with no HDD attached!

don't you have SCSI_disable_jumper? remove it..
maybe the problem is in GVP, can you update its ROM?

on the Apollo is just a AutoBoot disable.

on the GVP is a SCSI disable but then there are no HDDs or CD drives available.

Also I can not update my GVP with a newer roms version due to the lack of this progger or eeprom burner.

take all the RAM off the GVP and see if that helps

Great!

now nothing works.

My GVP won't autoboot amymore and so I can't get to the workbench or finding the hdd or cd-rom on the gvp either.

Seems that the 3.07 rom is blown, too. And I'm a lucky one with no progger the make me a new one.
