Low-profile IEC plug?
« on: March 26, 2007, 06:58:28 AM »
Is there any such thing as a low-profile IEC plug? I know you can get right-angled ones, but even this sticks out too far for what I need. I'm after something similar to the connector provided with the old Power Towers which replaced the A1200 power connector with a right angled one which barely stuck out a centimeter.

TIA

You mean the external power line plug for a PC style PSU?
DON'T put it into so tight a space that the length of the plug is your concern. These things need to 'breathe'.
In addition, I don't think shorter plugs than the right angled ones exist.

It's going inside an A4000 case which is cramped. I'm just trying to reduce cable surplus. If shorter cables don't exist then I think I'll open the PSU and solder a cable directly to it.

Cheers

de-solder one from a old HD or FLOPPY drive for smaller power connector.

EDIT: sorry wrong type of connector..

You can probably change the place of the connector in PSU. Sometimes they are hold in the place with just two bolts. Then you can secure it somewhere else where the cable won't take that much space.
