26 inch LCD for Amiga?
« on: March 08, 2007, 02:43:27 AM »
I know that some of you have issues with Boogiegail on ebay, but I have had no problems with the many purchases I have made.

What do you think of this monitor/TV?  It appears to sync down to allow 15kHz Amiga input.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

You shouldent have a problem with it as it also takes standard NTSC TV resolutions. You may find that the image will be pixalised a far bit because of the low resolution.

Why use the composite inputs for NTSC when it has an RGB input that will sync down to the 15kHz horizontal frequency that the Amiga displays?

Also why do you think the resolution is low when the monitor is capable of displaying HDTV resolutions.  Do you mean that the Amiga display will look bad on the monitor because the Amiga resolutions are low?

Hi,

That monitor is pretty low-res for its size... 1366 x 768 is low for a 26" screen (1024 x 768 is adequate for a 15" 4:3 display usually, so imagine what happens to the size of each pixel when the screen size gets bigger and the resolution doesn't).

And while it may be OK for 720px HTDV, it'll be of no real use for 1080px HDTV as it'll have to do some mangling to drop the extra resolution it's not capable of displaying.

But as an Amiga monitor, it'd be more than enough!

According to the manual the RGB port only goes down to 31kHz, 50Hz.  The 15kHz is just for the  component/composite/s-video.

I'd try to find one of these at a local Costco.  Better service, and you can return it if it doesn't work with your Amiga.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

The Amigas output is only 480x320 or less and that is NTSC standard. Unless you use a graphics card with the Amiga composite/S-Video will do just fine as the Amiga wont do HD resolutions very well so any TV LCD would work great.
