How much Chip Ram is free with a graphics card

Hi all,

Having just towerised my a1200 and using a Mediator, I'm curious as to how much Chip ram is free. I seem to average 1,600,000 but looking at the A1200 desktop pics, people seem to have around 1,900,000. I'm wondering how?

I do have STFax & IBrowse running, although Iconified, plus the usual WB stuff.

Are ther some programs I can use to maximise my Chip Ram? Is it needed? I actually have 196mb Fast Ram, although when using IB, this goes down to 156mb regularly. Even when running PGS as well, I still have plenty of free RAm, but just wondering how it all works.

With IBrowse, EasyNet and Pagestream running here on 3.9, I have 1,855,504 chip left and 209,318,856 fast

Have a look at your Datatypes to see what is eating into your chip mem.

I generally float around 1.8~1.9MB free ChipRAM, A4000D w/Picasso IV.  I'm using FBlit and (without looking) at least one other setting to move graphics stuff to FastRAM.

I am currently at 1560368, and generally around that.  I never really pay much attention except for one time that I forgot I had taken the 2nd 1M out of my A3000!  For some reason, when I had only 1M total, I was getting *dangerously* low.  I do run low occasionally when I have too many large drawers open in Workbench.

Step 1: Quit Ibrowse and STfax
Did your chipram change?

Step 2: Quit any other programs you have running, 1 at at time until you figure out which one of them is eating your chipram.

Step 3: Remember that you probably have some progs in your WBstartup dir.  Quit those until your chipram goes up.

Eventually you will figure out which program is guilty then we can work on a good solution.

I've got 1.93mb of chipram free. I don't load a lot of crap and I use a pattern on my workbench and make sure the wb is 8 bit.
