Amiga4000T & Video Toaster -Flyer
« on: March 05, 2007, 04:57:08 PM »
After fixing my A4000T in the near future, I plan to add a Video Toaster and Flyer replacing the VLab Motion card I have.

Are they compatible with A4000T's? (not Commodore)

Is it really an issue Toaster being NTSC as we can set 4000T to NTSC from the battery options?

Also where can I find an Audio-Video module for A4000T? (mine has a faulty left (or right) channel with some white noise.

The A/V module you can get from Vesalia (at least they had spare A/V modules a little while ago).

The Toaster as far as I know is NTSC only and it doesn't matter whether you switch a mobo jumper or not.

Toaster/Flyer only supports NTSC video, it does work in a A4000T, and you may be better off getting the module fixed rather then trying to find a replacement in this day and age.

what does that red piggy mean in Veselia homepage?

does it mean they are out of stock?

also would the commodore av module work with my Amiga Technologies 4000T? is there a difference?

It really isn't a problem for me. I mean my TV and monitor both can display NTSC video. and my camera can record and output in ntsc too. Would there be any other problems?

I tried to fix the AV module but was unsuccessful. It was a power supply fault. fried two of the chips on AV module along with the P8 and P9 connectors on the motherboard (the ones that the power supply connects to) I soldered a new one and they worked for a while and now All I get is black screen and a 4000t not working.

All indications up to now are that the two A4000T versions are identical except for the front bezel. The pig icon means you are paying a low price on that.

Go ahead and buy that, it's well worth it.

Okay, mate, now I think you got a problem. I think if that was me, I would send the mobo to Amiga Center in France.

the 4000t was built for the toaster.  the toaster is NTCS only and ever.   IMO one of the best features of the tower is the fact that is has t video slots.... one forthe the toaster and on frooa piccassoIV with scandoubler.... now forget those flickery d1 displays.

Now put down the solder gun before you blow the whole thing up.  May not need to send of to france (cost will kill you) but you do need to take a deep breath and start looking for spare parts, don't hurry...you did not ahve a toaster until now you can wait a few more weeks/months to find a spare av module.  If you don't have serious experience with computer electronics, DON'T solder around on your 4kt, find something replacable....

Well :) the p8 and p9 connectors are on the mainboard. Im talking about those connectors on which the the main power cables from the power supply are connected to. the p8 on the mainboard is alright. the problem is with the p9. the pins are brownish. I just hope there isnt any other problems.

you can see that connector in theis picture (left uppermost)

Sooo...

Will I be able to use a Video Toaster in Turkey even if its NTSC only? Or is it meaningless to buy one?

(if i manage to fix my 4000t)

Yes, but the input / output of the video will be NTSC only.  The toaster / flyer cards get their power from the motherboard so that is a non-issue.  If Turkey is PAL, you will have to convert the NTSC video before you can display it on a non-NTSC device.
