Best joystick/gamepad...
« on: February 28, 2007, 05:52:34 PM »
.... well, I installed e-uae on my Mac Mini. It's works flawlessly! Anyhoo, I need a joystick or a gamepad for my Amiga games. What do you all recommend on the Mac Mini running Amiga emulation? What have any of you used that has good/great response, comfortable, easy on the hands, etc...? Thx...

No I don't think they do, but there's no harm in asking :-)

What type of discount?  We never want to loose any customers.

BTW: Do you know that there is a special version of the Competition Pro USB with the Amiga Classix CD bundled in the box:

@Amigakit

Yes, I saw that, very nice. What all is on the CD? I would like to get two controllers actually. Do you offer, say maybe, 10% off for A.O customers? That would be great.  :-D

I was disappointed with the blue Comp Pro, plays like a brick.  Tossed it into a corner where probably will die of old age.

If I were you I'd go for one of those Atari 9 pin->USB converter thingies, lets you use your own old trusty joysticks =).

I think the thingies you're referring to is the Stelladaptor by Pixels Past and sold by AtariAge. They were out of stock for the longest time which was a real bummer and they're once again available. As much as I like my Speedlink Competition Pro USB, I think the Stelladaptor is better. The Competition Pro USB seems to have a slight lag that I don't get with the Stelladaptor and I prefer being able to use the classic joystick of my choosing depending on what game I'm playing. One other advantage, as odd as it may sound, is that you can use whatever length USB cable you want with the Stelladaptor so I can sit on my sofa and play games on my TV which is a good 12' away.

The fact is though, both will improve the retro gaming experience and it sure is nice to have a choice. I'll be hanging on to both. :)

Call me Golan; my parents did.

FANTASTIC!!
I've been looking for ages but couldn't see one for sale.
Thanks for directing me to the Stelladaptor!

Shipping to UK works out at around £27 inclusive.
Strangely, I have just found a usb to gameport adaptor on eBay... for less than half the price.

Do you think this would be ok, or a chance it could just be a very cheap product and not work well??
 :-?

BTW, "Hello" people!

IT'S A CON!!!
Although it says £1.21 postage, at the bottom of the eBay ad it says:

"Due to the weight of your item, it is not enough to cover for postage to your address. Please note that the postage you are paying is for mainland UK, postage to your address is £16.73. Item will hold till we receive the postage."

Although the product may work well, I do not like how they have listed it.   :madashell:

However, in the end it works out the same price as Stelladaptor @ £27.... and ships from UK (maybe quicker delivery?)

 :-?

D'oh!!!!

Just noticed the plug on that eBay one is female, and it needs to be male for an Amiga joystick!

Stelladaptor it is then!!
