Amikit Rocks!!
« on: February 26, 2007, 08:40:46 PM »
I downloaded Amikit today while at school. I installed it on my "Winders" ( It is the Texas version :-D )machine at home.
100 MB size is alot.  I do not have the 1.3 upgrade yet.
I am running on OS3.5.
What do you think?

Amiga 2000 Forever :)

Only had it installed for about an hours time and took it off.  Just didn't like Dopus or that addon that changes the windows n such.

I was just too used to the plain Amiga OS 3.0 back on my Amiga 1200.  Only look enhancements I had was MagicWB and MUI.  :-)

You dont need to take it off.

Just open the S:Sstartup sequence

And go to the bottom of the text and you will see LoadWB and under that LoadDB (I think it is called)

Just put a ;at the start like this below:-

LoadWb
;LoadDB
Instead of the other way round, that way you get the original Amiga setup.
You wil have AmiAtart as you did with the Dopus config.
But you can go to the WBStartup and move it out and use AmiDock if you prefer.

I have both versions on two seperate partitions on my PC and have the best of both.

I bought Amiga Dev. CD 2.1 from Amigakit.com.  I wonder if the compatability is good.

@swift240:
That's what I did...except for a glitch I ran into - I could edit startup-sequence. but when I tried to save it, it told me I couldn't save it! (Cannot delete the file...) So I saved it under a different name, quit Amikit, renamed it via (blecch) windozen't, and it started fine.

@kd7ota:
You really ought to give it another try.

No need to do that. Microgolded reports something like "cannot delete file..." but the changes are saved anyway. This has something to do with startup-sequence being "locked" in AmiKit. The reason is unknown. Probably some kind of WinUAE dir emulation bug because it doesn't happen with hardfile.

You can also run WB instead of Dopus by pressing the shift-key during the boot.

I almost forgot about the feature. However, to make it work like pVC said, make sure your "LoadWB" command (located in C:) is renamed to "LoadWB_old".
