BPPC WOES, needs decision...or help!!!

Finally got a BPPC card for affordable price (040/25, 603+@240). I think it will be easy to install, just swap with currently used blizzard 1240/40 in mediator tower (nothing special here, FastATA, voodoo3, sb128, eth) but here starts my problems
This card wont boot at cold start. Ive read before very deeply here and also at other sites) where can be problems. Usually low power/voltage, etc. Got a new beefy fortron at-psu (they still made at-psus, with noisekiller fan etc, and they are PRETTY HEAVY)
So, free floppy power cable goes straight to board – but - still the same, cold boot always stops at dark grey screen.
Tried latest stable firmware flash – still the same Boots fine after manual reset only!Damn.
Here starts another problem with buggy 040 (move16) as fastata drive complains - sometime it just crashes while writing to hd drive
After this „ndos dh0“ experience ive tried it also with another two bare-boards (gah its 1D1, 1D4, 2B altogether), with same result
Its just annoying to start it manually, but after boot i can play quakeppc many hours without ANY problem... Switch it off for a minute, another cold boot - still same :boohoo:  needs manual reset.
Card isnt overclocked, looks like new, and that gold plated scsi connector, hmmm...
 
Im thinking about few options which i have now, hope someone can helps to make best decision:

1)live with it, just manual reset and some 040 bugs cant scatter me..
2)replace buggy (and very hot) 040 with 060? (P.G., J-J there are guys to do it) (but who knows if it also solves boot problem...)
3)sell it (damn, i dont want to sell it, it runs f*ckin fast!)

hope there are only few typos and its readable and understandable...

Is your mobo an 1D4?

Had lots of problems when both my BPPC's where with 68040's but it's alot better now when PG has upgraded them with 68060's but sometime cold reboots end up the same way as yours   :-(

Maybe get the timing fixes done on the 1d4 board?
I had trouble with my BPPC 040/603e+ until I put it on my other 1d4 which had the timing fixes done on it...
Since then it's been working great

@Chain: have you tried installinf software fro the PPC first and after that installing the card?

I have 4 A1200 (ALL of them are revision 1D4, seems its the only model that arrived to this land), and 4 PPC cards. From the 4 cards, 3 are same specs as yours.
I used to have a lot of trouble, when installing the card in a previously used 1d4 moterhboard with a Blizzard 1230 (i just switched the cards thinking it would just work fine) with Power Flyer card installed as well

What i did was stripped down the machine, installed software first, then the PPC libraries, then the Power Flyer, then the MEdiator, etc etc etc

Now i can tell you, after a lot of pain i have a system "stable"

Random crashes can also occur if you dont have a cooler on the 040 side. Do you have one? I can take pics of mine so you can have a look...

Also, be sure to feed up the beast with the floppy drive connector as well, to give more power to the card

all ram precharges are off, compaq 2x32 edo-60ns simms

 Perhaps i'm mistaken but i think you must switch them to ON in case you are experiencing problems.

it runs fine with all precharges off - but on plain stripped 1d1 board. there is only one problem wit cold boot, nothing else. So i think simms are ok with precharges off. Ive tried it all on, 70ns settins  it runs too, but problem wth boot persist.
