any basic image manip programmes recommended?
« on: February 13, 2007, 12:09:11 PM »
I've been using GfxCon to convert images on my miggy, along with Personal Paint, but not without issues. GfxCon doesn't support a lot of newer image types, and Personal Paint is more of a paint program than what I want. Most of the time I'd use Photoshop at work, but it would be nice to be able to do the simpler stuff on my Amiga. Does anybody have any recommendations for a simple program of this type for occasional use? I've got a mediator/Voodoo set up so RTG is obviously a plus.

Batching is cool - but I'm not really worried about it for this. Its just for the occasional one-off job, maybe changing the resolution of an image or converting from one format to another, and possibly a small amount of actual image manipulation (brightness/contrast etc - but that's not major.

There is ImageStudio, that can handle the jobs you're talking about, however I've seen that it doesnt do very well in resizing images (there are some artifacts). Then again, there might be a setting I'm missing.
Anyway is the only way

I'd settle for just a GfxCon replacement which simply changed formats and resolutions - it didn't even display the picture. Shame it doesn't support newer formats.

How about Art Effect? Its not free but its about the closest you will come to Photoshop on Amiga...

Art Effect 4

Failing this you could get ImageFX I suppose but that would be even more pricey...

Just a cheeky bump... :-)

@Angus:

Did you find a suitable program to use? Which one did you settle for?
