It is REAL easy, there are plans on Aminet. I know that much, plus you can screw yourself and pay extra to have someone build you a atx to 1200 converter, but why waste your cash?

Hi Delshay, just go to Amigakit, and they have the connectors to hook either ATX or AT PSU's up to your 1200. If they don't, they ususally order some and get restocked rather quickly.

Amiga 3000D & 4000D in storage sadly.

Actually, I've had some bad experience with a new power supply. I bought an ATX powersupply but my PPC amiga won't work on it. Any other amiga does but they don't require a strong power supply.

I also had to connect the power-ok line to 5V and the standby line to ground. It didn't work at all if I didn't do this. I'm still not sure why all my Amigas work with it except my A1200 with PPC. So I'm back using the old powersupply at the moment knowing it will crash after a while.

Anyone ever had a similar problem ?

@Amiduffer

        i dont need PSU,thanks anyway.
my project is about solving the power problem in a standard A1200.

it will use a laptop style PSU & when the A1200 is upgraded there is no need for extra power feeds, ect.

in other words its a replacement PSU from commodore making the A1200 more portable but with more power & a smaller PSU unit.

so any upgrade u dont have to thing about any extra power feeds.

my project does work, but i **cant** change PROJECT 2 it now part of the A1200 motherboard & **cant** be removed & add the missing wires.....this is my error.

the switch is mounted on the rear of the A1200 you also get some new voltage lines..3.3v SB 5v & if A1200 is towered & use a older PSU -5v will be present.

I've used that guide,
it doesn't mention anything about why all my Amiga's work except my A1200/PPC. Anyone got something about this ?

What is special about PPC cards ?, do they require more accurate voltages ?. I bought a cheap power supply (400W), perhaps I need to spend more on better quality ?

I doubt it... any PC supply (especially one @ 400watt ) should work... maybe worth trying another one but i doubt thats it. Did it work OK in a PC?

Uh,. I didn't try it on a PC and I've already got some wires. Just bought a new one for my Ami. Perhaps I can have a look at it again to see if I still did something wrong. Although it doesn't explain why my A1200/060 machine worked fine with it.

I heard/read somewhere, that -during its way from power supply connector on the pcb to ppc card- the voltage drops quite a bit.
To overcome this, a suggestion is to give extra power from the ATX supply via the A1200s floppy power connector. Sounds weird, but worked for me.

That change was already applied to my machine, otherwise the PPC card itself wouldn't work, not even with my old supply. I must say that the small fan's inside my machine (12V fans) sound as if they rotate alot quicker when I use the new power supply. The one not working. Perhaps the supply expects a bigger load on the 12V line ? If the load is too small the voltage is higher?
