The Final Cartridge III

Not exactly Amiga related....

I went to the junk-yard yesterday here in Oslo. And in the Computer disposal area i noticed a C128D. I was unable to snag the computer with me since "stealing" trash is not legal, and my girlfriend was in the car :(

Anyway i was able to take with me "The Final Crtridge III" which was mounted in back.

How rare are theese cartridges today? are people using them today? (I was an Atariguy in thoose days.)

(I Tried to post a picture to the gallery but it was a no go :-? )

What???

You mean you found an 128D in the junk and didnt pick it up???

Strange law, I doubt anyone would mind since it was thrown away...

Having said that though, I did ask the trash owners of a house if I could have the 1084S that was inside  :-D

sigh... I hate those stories about stuff being thrown away. These people obviously have no idea what it was worth. Just have a look at this.

Are you aware how many people who look behind the big electronic shops for old hardware every day?

You should have picked up the 128D. I'm both amazed and shocked. I wouldn't hesitate even for one second.
Maybe it is illegal by law, but putting old things to good use is easy to defend, both morally and environmentally.

Pardon my poor English, I am trying my best not to fall off my chair. :boohoo:

I have a 128D that powers on, but I get no display.  Neither 40 column nor 80 column.  I have hacked in an extra SID chip that uses the R/F out as an extra audio line.  Though it seems the volume coming through it was about 1/6th of what it should be (may need a circuit boost to pre-amp).  Could just be a bad ground.

I haven't played with it enough to see if typing:
load"$",8
actually accesses the disk drive.  God I used to love that thing...

They usually go for 8-15 EUR on Ebay. The nice thing about them is their Amiga-like "GUI" with mouse support.

the c128d is rarer than the tf3 at least in norway.... i got allready 3 or 4 of these tf3 all bought in norway and they show up very often on qxl.no also. i would say 50-150nkr for one cart with a manual it can get a bit higher...

anyway to bad you didnt grab that c128d.. in working condition, it should be worth 1000-1500nkr..

These days many are using AR6's or RetroReplay's instead of FC3.

I might not be 100% legal,  but you should have really picked it up anyways. I live in Norway as well and have often picked up such stuff without getting into problems.
Me and some friend of mine got actually stopped by the police while we were looking at trash recyling dropoff behind a recycling centre.. The police wondered what we were doing, and i told the truth that we were just looking to see if someone had thrown out some interesting trash and they let us go and actually seemed interested to hear that one can find some useful stuff there.

I spotted a 1084 monitor behind an electronics shop in Trondheim, Norway.  :-)
Not much Amiga related to be found, though... I asked a guy who obviously came to look for old computers several times a week, and he said that he never saw any Amigas.

As i said "I was an Atariguy in thoose days.".... I really don't know much about pre Amiga Commodore stuff.

Anyway it was a fun thing to find, i bet that a lot of people throw theese types of thing without knowing what it is they are throwing away.
