Hi from Jersey, (UK, not USA ;)
« on: February 06, 2007, 12:11:21 AM »
Hi all,

I've just joined after being recommended by people on mailing lists and IRC. I've asked for a bit of help which was readily forthcoming, nice one guys (& gals).

I 1st started with an A500 around 15-17 years ago (I still have accounts on my hard drivve from 15 years ago!), and upgarded to an A1200 with 060. I fitted a Subway to it around 2-3 years ago and was thrilled with the ease of transferring data from PC->Amiga->PC, better than Zip drives.

Anyway, 2 years ago I got an LCD widescreen TV and that's when I realsied I HAD to get a graphics card. I had to use Multiscan:Producyivity mode & it was so slow. So over the last 18 months, I bought the bits I needed to produce the system you see in my sig ;)

I live in Jersey, Channel Isles and although there was 1 other miggy user 5 years ago, he doesn't use it any more so I guess I'm the only one in Jersey. There used to be one in Guernsey but I haven't seen her online for quite a while. This means, I can only use places like Amiga.org for help but I have to say, everyone really does.

IBrowse really rocks with this setup and I shall be popping in here MUCH more frequently now :)

Welcome to A.Org!

Never made it to Jersey, but spent a long weekend in Guernsey - very nice part of the world! Lots of friendly people too!

Hi Wurzel

In August I will be visiting Jersey for the third year in a row. I have totally fallen in love with it. I wish I could add to the number of Amiga users there permanenly, but my boyfriend doesn't want to move :-(

I hope you consider yourself very lucky to live in such a beautiful place :-)

@ motorollin

Hi motorollin

I noticed you listed a C64 and disk drive in your list - but what is a Prophet?

I still use my trusty old 1541 and my most treasured floppy disk game is Loco by Gremlin Graphics :-)  Great Jean Micheal Jarre tune lovingly re-created by SID !

Prophet64 is a cartridge for the C64 which contains a 303-style bassline synth, a lead synthesizer, a drum machine and a sequencer.

Welcome wurzel

I was lucky enough to live in beautiful Jersey for about 5 years. It was sun, sea, sand and something   all the way. I've never seen so many gorgeous girls in one place during the summer season in Jersey, when they all came over to work and party.

Excuse my spelling of them but are great places like the pub Le Buvette in town still around?

What about Lords disco? Madisons disco that had the amazing beach party on Thursday nights to which the boys wore T-shirts and shorts and the girls wore Bikini's? (Hmmmmm.... wet T-shirt contest)  Thackereys diso? Sands disco way out at St Ouens? Les Arches was a Saturday night favourite for me and the lads too.

I believe you can't get residential qualifications to live there now unless you were on the island before 1981 and stayed there for 10 years? The only other way is to have a £zillion pounds in the bank right? Does Roger Moore still have the place he called Moonraker after one of his films?

EDIT - Actually, some of my mates married local Jersey girls and could then stay there with them of course  8-)
