What a find! 1084S-D2
« on: June 04, 2003, 08:38:47 PM »
My school was throwing one of these out! I can't believe it. Well, actually I can. They don't know anything about Amigas and probably think it's broken. It may be, though. I haven't tested it yet. By the time I got to it, it was covered in dirt and about to be thrown on the back of the truck. Good timing, eh?
It's in great cosmetic shape. No yellowing, it even has the front panel door. Just the thing to replace the barely-working 1902A the 500's currently hooked up to.

Now I need to go about getting this thing cleaned up. Anything I should be aware of?  :-)

Eh... I don't know for sure. I think it has to do with the production run. This one has a badge on it in the same style as the 1200; it's from late 1992. My older one has a 2000 style badge and an option to tint the entire display green; it's a D1 from early 1991.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks. :-)

You're welcome.. As I'm from the other side of the water, I can't give any advice on what products to use, but there are special sollutions to clean the display and other sollutions to clean the casing.. Eh, wasn't there a thread here about some kind of wondercleaner ? Mr Sheen or something ?

IIRC, the D2 designation indicates that a different flyback transformer was used in the high voltage section.

I have a 1084DS (don't remember if its D1 or D2).

D is the model number perhaps because its the 4th generation 1084 monitor?

Shame the speakers went on mine, everyone else I know who got the same model have normally working speakers. :-( LOL!

bzzzt wrong!  ;-)

monitors that had a 'P' - had 'Philipps' CRTs
monitors that had a 'D' - had 'Daewoo' CRTs!

the daewoo ones are always newer

the '2' is the seccond revision of those with Daewoo CRTS
