Amiga 3000 Help Request
« on: January 31, 2007, 12:50:10 AM »
I have an amiga 3000 that is currently setup to load wb 3.1 by loading the rom into memory. I have purchased 2 sets of OS3 roms and one of OS2 roms. each of these is labeled as being specifically for the Amiga 3000. The problem is that once I install these the computer no longer boots at all. Maybe I am doing something wrong as I only recieved instructions with one of the sets of roms, and they were for a 3000T.

Any suggestions from the community on what to try or what I may be doing wrong? Is there a processor requirement to upgrade os? I have an accelerator, but have never used it as it requires the os3 chip. I don't have the standard procssor board, but it seems to run wb3.1 fine with softkicked roms. I have tried everything I can think of to include removing the expansion cards, but no avail.

What revision motherboard do you have? If it's a rev 6.x, you probably need a Rom Tower to put in the new ROMs to work proper.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

If the A3000 has the ROM tower, then it needs ROM tower ROMs.
Also, make sure you put the correct ROM in the correct socket.  ROM 0 goes in U181, ROM 1 goes in U180 (at least on my board).
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

My A3000UX came from the factory with *Multiple* sockets, and a ROM tower *that was not being used*.  For some odd reason, C= put the unix booting ROMs in the alternate sockets, but shipped a ROM tower with the computer in case you wanted to use different ROMs (?)
If yours came from C= this way, maybe someone along the way lost the ROM tower?
Also, there are jumpers to select which ROM sockets you are using.
Mine even has a socket that works with A2000 ROMs!

Also, you mentioned your accelerator.  You MUST change the motherboard jumpers if you remove OR add an accelerator.  There are two that need to be changed, and what they are called depends on what rev your board is.
Get up!  Get up!  Get outta here!  GONE!

The motherboard has 4 sockets U180-U183 on the board, but is rev 6.1 It didn't come with a rom tower as it was bought second hand. Anyone have a schematic for the rom tower? How is the rom tower used.....do you leave in the )S 1 roms that are on the motherboard in U180 And U181 and it plugs into U182 and U183?
Thanks,
Nathan

You need special ROMs contact Software Slut to order!

I had issues with my 6.1 MB and getting mine working, had to exchange ROMs 3 times to get it working and SS worked with me, highly recommended.
Going Bananas over AMIGAs since 1987...

Looking for Fusion Fourty PNG ROMs V3.4?
