Back in the day, 3.5" floppies were the state of the art in removable media. (We called 'em "stiffies" 'cause they weren't as floppy as the 5" ones.) They were the good ones, made by the good companies (for the most part -- anyone remember the Tan Floppy Fiasco?).
Nowadays, they're fading away, and don't get the same attention to quality. I don't recommend magnetic media at all any more; too many failures these days.
I sure hope I have your luck with my old Amiga floppies; I have close to a hundred to check out.
