awesome!
but what about an A1200 blizzard PPC board?
i have a 040 based PPC card, and an 060 chip in a box -which i want to swap with the 040, but i'm hampered by a pronounced lack of courage when it comes to waving a soldering iron around either!

A500, A600, A1200x3, A2000, A3000, A4000 & a CD32.
and probably just like the rest of you, crates full of related "treasure" for the above XD

I have to agree, I personally would not want to try and upgrade the BPPC card I have in fear of breaking it :P Having said that, I would really love to upgrade the 040/25 on it to an 060.

yeah, i'm tempted to look for another PPC board in case this one dies for some reason (touch wood, throw salt over shoulder, tug forlock, *insert random superstitious act to ward off bad luck here*), so melting stuff off of it really doesn't bear thinking about!

hmmmm... on the blizzard PPC have you seen the size of the jumpers you have to move around to change the CPU voltage from 5volts to 3.3volts? magnifying glass, a solid board mount, and a steady hand.
i'm not even going to go into getting to the jumpers for the bus speed multiplier for the PPC - which if i remember rightly, are under the clock generators, or the oscilator selecter for the 68k chip, cos really with an 060, i'd like it to run off the same crystal as generates the PPC bus clock so it is as syncronous as possible. the fact it'd be 66Mhz would be only a side benifit :-D

then there is the daunting 200 odd pins of the 040 to desolder, and of the 060 to resolder.

its all too scary for me   :-o

I am still interested in getting my BPPC 040 upgraded.

What insurance do you offer in case you kill my card?

This is a good question.
We are talking of old hardware and even though i have successfully upgraded many 040 cards by now there is always a risk involved.
Of course if your card dies after the upgrade i will try to make it up to you.
Currently i have no BPPC in stock but i could replace your BPPC with a 060 card instead.
Hopefully nothing goes wrong but then you at least have that guarantee.
Let me also tell you that i use professional tools, i have access to both hot-air and regular desoldering / soldering tools.

Why i cant give guarantees against intermittent faults is because they could just as well have nothing to do with the upgrade and very hard to find before doing the upgrade.
So there is no point in sending me a intermittent faulty card and hope to get it replaced with a working 060 card.. ;-)

Send the items through insured mail, if something goes wrong make a claim and say it was damaged in the mail!
