mactoamiga here introducing himself
« on: January 25, 2007, 03:16:13 AM »
Hello Everyone,

As you can probabely tell from my name I am a Macintosh user currently, but yesterday I say an article about the AmigaOS 4, and well to be honest, I have not been this amazed or excited since I got my first computer a long time ago. I currently at the moment do not have AmigaOS 4, but desperately want to get it.

I am currently a Computer Science major in college and after reading and seeing several videos online as to what this operating system can do, I really want to try it out and possibly switch to the AmigaOS 4.

I am a computer person who uses the most effiecent operating system that I know. I originally was a Mac User, from OS 3 to OS 7 back from the early 1990's to the late 1990's. However at the time MacOS 7 was a terrible OS and I became a Windows users with Windows 98 and that was what my highschool was using at the time also. 5 years later I switched Linux but at the time in 2003 (freshman year of college), Linux was extremely difficult to use. That is when I switch backed to the Mac platform with OS X and have been very impressed with it. Since then I have also learned alot about linux and use linux on and off.

I love Operating System that really try to expand on technology and try to push the boundary. I think Apple has done an amazing job, but the OS is right at 5 gigs to install and I am not even going to talk about Windows VIsta, that is a story for another day (I have used the offical Vista Business release).

When I first read about the AmigaOS 4 yesterday I was surprised. With everything I have read today, I want to use it, it seems down right amazing, I have looked at screenshots and I have been reading everything I can about it. Sorry that was a little longer than I thought it would be but I hope I can make a valued member of ths community!!!

*PS* My ranking does not represent my correctly, I am VERY CURIOUS *PS*

Welcome aboard.
What is your experience with an Amiga?
I have an Amiga 1000, 500, 1200.
I do not use them much.  I need to upgrade them.

Later,
Rick.
 :-D
Amiga 2000 Forever :)
Welcome to the Planar System.

Welcome to amiga.org!

If you want to use AmigaOS 4 you will have to find yourself a used AmigaOne system (I saw one for sale on amigaworld.net earlier today), since there is no new hardware available at the moment which will run AmigaOS 4.
There are some new systems being developed which MIGHT be able to run it, but don't hold your breath, they might as well never be released at all...
