I haven't really read the Amiga.com site in maybe 5 years.  Bt, as far as I last knew, OS4.0 was never intended to run on anything except "New" Amigas, ie AmigaOne and later desktop systems.  I was in attendance when Amiga Inc made their official announcements about the future of AmigaOS.  I have  a pretty good picture of what they had planned.  I do believe they might do less than they planned (already true), not /more/.
What I assume you are seeing on their site is another product line of Amiga Inc's, that has almost nothing to do with genuine Amigas, "Classic", AmigaOne, or otherwise.

OS4.0 really is released, that is a fact.  Unless you should encounter someone willing to part with his/her AmigaOne, you are out of luck for being able to use it, unless you are one of the few who are somehow running it on CyberStormPPC boards (which I wish I were!)  There is no such official release for "Classic" Amigas.

No offence, but I don't think anyone will believe your word about new hardware in April.  First of all, we probably would have heard it somewhere else by now, and second, we've heard so many promises and dates, and "1Q2004" etc. over the years we don't believe any release dates anymore unless they actually happen, as in, past tense!

Thats ok, I cant expect people to understand what I mean all the time.
Let me rephrase, is there a company that Amiga is in conjunction with that produces mobiles or PDA's, and hence, some royalties will go towards the Amiga company if such an Item is purchased?
Also, I believe Amiga would be wise if they allow there OS, or atleast some type of OS to be used on Mobiles and PDA's, as then we may see more of an expansion in the Product line in future.
Plus, I desire to have Amiga with me wherever I go, so it would seem unreasonable to think that there arent many people who can see the benefits of this company in multitasking alone, hence, the company must surely realise by now their potential to start running more of the market.

Cheers

I hate to kill your enthusiasm, because believe me, I wish I still had it.  But, I get the impression Amiga Inc. are just trying to keep their paychecks getting paid, rather than trying to capitalise on anything worthwhile.

It is very possible to run any one of the given Amiga emulators on a PC laptop (maybe even Mac?).  I have one set up that way, but unfortunately, the particular emulator I bought doesn't support networking or sound on my particular laptop.  I suspect it would work on almost any other laptop.

Thats fine mate.
Its not just enthusiasm though, I honestly can see I gap here, and I think Amiga would be extremely Insane if they didnt take it this time round, coz then, Hate to say it, Amiga may well be a thing of the past.
And that would be Unexceptable to me, and many others, including younger folk, that were born in 88.
I wasnt, Im older.
Here are two links mate.

Then whats with all the PDA shots, mobile shots and all on the Amiga website??

Amiga Inc don't have anything to do with the Amiga computer any more.  A group of investors purchased the 'Amiga' brand and name several years ago in order to use it as branding for selling PDA games.

They had ideas to sell something called 'Amiga DE' (an old version of Tao's 'Intent' with a few Amiga Inc pieces tacked on) to PDA and mobile phone makers, and hoped to coax Amiga users and developers to write programs and games for this new system.  This didn't happen, and very few 'Amiga DE' games have been released, but the ones that have, you can purchase from the Amiga.com shop.  These are the screenshots you see on the website.

It is nothing to do with Amiga computers or Amiga OS.

I dont mind not having os4 on my mobile or PDA, Id just have 3.9 then, thats fine.
The bigger Question is, what do I have to do, do retreive a mobile or PDA that allows me to run Amiga on it?

You can't have any version of AmigaOS on a mobile phone or PDA (unless it's running UAE).  Amiga DE games run on Windows, Windows Mobile, and PocketPC so if you want to support Amiga Inc, just buy a smartphone with Windows Mobile (I think Motorola make some, such as the Motorola Q), or PocketPC (such as the Samsung i700) then go to Amiga.com, buy some of their games and install them.

Quote

Also, Is it at all possible to have a device like this, that only runs Amiga OS, or does it have to be a windows Mobile or PDA whereby Amiga os3.9 is running over it?

It is not AmigaOS.  It is 'Amiga DE' (later changed to 'Amiga Anywhere') built on Tao's 'Intent' running hosted on PocketPC, Linux, or Windows.  This is nothing to do with the Amiga computer or OS.

Excellent, thats more like it, someone who is answering my questions, rather than asking a question on top of a question.

Thank you kindly dear sir, I geuss I will in that case get either a motorola or samsung. Any others you know of?

A more important question for my sake, SO, is Amiga alive and well? And is Amiga actually Hyperion? or is Hyperion working for Amiga Inc. who now may have decided to make a new Amiga computer with OS4 on it, for release in Early April?

Thank you

Kind regards

Ainc are "extremely insane".

Brief history lesson;

There -was- an opportunity lift the brands profile, put it all over a bunch of hardware gadgets, MP3 players, phones, Amiga-in-a-joystick, games compilations ect and create a new desktop OS alternative.

Over the last 5+ years Ainc have repeatedly failed to capitalise on the brand.  Here's one example;

The OS was available in beta on extremely expensive PPC based hardware; (anyone want a buggy AUD$1000+ motherboard?), now the OS is finally out of beta, the hardware has dried up, so there's nothing to run it on.

Do you see the problem?

Most people are now content with classic hardware and/or emulation.

You are an interesting and entertaining character arent you!

Maybe, if you and many other supposed supporters of Amiga wouldve actually gotton others around you to also purchase the emulators, Amiga may have been able to actually have these gizmos now.

Oh well, its not quiet over yet, and Amiga will still be out there, and the more people Amiga enthusiasts get to use the 3.9 OS or any type of Amiga computers with OS4, the more likely it will be that the next time you look out your window, you will see a young Kid holding a PDA Amiga OS system running on it, or a mobile with an Amiga standalone OS running on it!

Simple isnt it, its called marketing, but I dont see any people helping Amiga out here, all what they seem to be doing, even in my other post(esp) is being negative and biased towards their own Kind, have you all gone Microsoft crazy???

Look, what Im trying to say, is yes, you are right about the past, but we are the ones who determine the future, I am young, and so far Ive met one other young chap on this site, so if we get more of a market here, then the future will look Brighter for Amiga.

Im now officially off to training, and then to go out for a boys night out. And yes, Ive already hooked two out of the 12 boys onto getting the Amiga emulator, thanks for wanting to ask!

SUPPORT YOUR AMIGA! If you hate other platforms, I repeat this : SUPPORT YOUR AMIGA! Its easy, just grab some paper, print some cards with useful informative websites about Amiga OS4 and AMiga Emulators, and distribute.

Oh yeah, And tell all your friends, mates, man even aquaintances to atleast have a read of some of the fantastic amiga sites out there.

Cheers

Ill be back tomorow AMIGA Fanatics 8-)

Heh, I would say the same about you, but Ive heard this old revivalist rhetoric so many times before, the entertainment quality is now somewhat lacking.

Just because this big Amiga revival idea has only just occured to you, doesnt mean it hasnt been heard before on this forum to the point that its now dull and predictable.

I wonder if you realise just how obtuse you're being?

Amiga Inc are not interested in Amiga, at all. I thought this became clear already.

(Egg Somewhere in that fridge?)

LOOK AT IT

Its based in western australia, so ofcourse there wont be much to see here, as Australia, the Amiga isnt a Kult computer here.

and if it is, well, then I find it strange that there are no community functions with Amigas here then.

I'm sure there's a breach of the posting guidelines in there somewhere.
