Handles, real names, and being non-paranoid
« on: January 19, 2007, 12:46:58 AM »
In an ideal world, phishers and spammers would not exist. Their existence would be the bane of society, and such scum would be hunted down, neutered, and branded with a big "W" on their foreheads and their rear-ends. But this is not an ideal world.  :madashell:

Then, there are the idiots of the world. Not to offend the truly blameless low IQ, I must clarify my rant.

Everyone on the internet uses a "handle", psuedo-name, or moniker to protect their legal name from being harvested by the dreaded phisher and scammer software.

Now, Amiduffer has committed the most absolute sin. He has posted a persons legal name. :madashell:  :pissed:
Won\'t hide my location.

I don't really give a f*** about who knows my real name, of the hundreds of images I have published online, you can find my name quite easily, so someone posting my name here is of no consequence. Thats the biggest problem with the internet, it is the anonymity. Thats why scammers and the like can pretty much get away with anything. Srew anonymity, if you don't want people to know who you are, you have no place on the internet.

my handle is a hybrid of my real name.
The only stupid question is a question not asked.

Win•dows: n. A thirty-two bit extension and graphical shell to a sixteen-bit patch to an eight-bit operating system originally coded for a four-bit microprocessor which was written by a two-bit company that can\'t stand one bit of competition.

Likewise, although the number of people who still call me Wilse is very small.

Apart from that my whole name is in my profile anyway.

My Handle was choosen as an 'omarge to the rather poor Recoil Album "Bloodline"... it sounded cool... to my 16years old ears, and was pertty much unique (I know of no other bloodlines). Thus it has stuck with me for the past 11 years! :-o

-Edit- Originally used just for IRC, but latter used on Internet Forums and other login requirements.

My handle IS my name (Initials plus surname) :-D

...and definately not an operating system that was never finished, nor a terrible film and neither is it the name of a famous composer :-P

My handle is also my name, there's about a hundred websites and forums where you can find out my name is Mick Hayes.

Actually, it's usually so they can talk sh*t and not get beaten up in real life.
